Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia McLain.
Hi Julia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Julia’s passion for performing began at a very young age, and she’s been chasing her dreams ever since. One of her first major milestones came when she was just 9 years old, winning her very first singing competition, where she competed alongside contestants ranging from elementary school through high school. That experience gave her the confidence to continue pursuing opportunities on bigger stages.Soon after, Julia was invited to perform the National Anthem at the NBA Summer League not once, but twice. Those performances opened the door to many exciting opportunities, including singing for the Savannah Bananas World Tour, the UNLV Rebels, and most recently, the Atlanta Braves. In addition to singing, Julia has developed a love for acting and musical theatre. She recently appeared in the independent film Brown Waters and is excited to reprise the role of Annie this summer in Marietta Square. She’s also looking forward to performing the National Anthem for the Atlanta Dream at the end of July. Julia is incredibly grateful for every opportunity she’s been given and is excited to continue growing as both a singer and actress. She can’t wait to see where this journey takes her next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many young performers, Julia has faced rejection, long hours of rehearsals, balancing school with performances, and the disappointment of auditions that didn’t go her way. Those experiences haven’t discouraged her, they’ve helped her become more determined and resilient.
There have also been sacrifices along the way, from traveling for auditions and performances to giving up free time with friends. Success in this industry takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to keep learning.
Through it all, Julia has remained passionate about performing. Every challenge has made her stronger, and every opportunity whether on stage, on set, or singing at a major sporting event has reminded her why she loves what she does. She sees every experience as a chance to grow, and she’s excited to keep working toward her dreams.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love both singing and acting because they allow me to connect with people in different ways. Whether I’m performing on stage, singing the National Anthem, or acting in a film or musical, my goal is always to make people feel something and bring joy through my performances.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just any one performance, it’s seeing how much I’ve grown with each opportunity. Every audition, rehearsal, and performance has helped me become more confident and taught me something new.
I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely love performing. I’m always excited to learn, work hard, and challenge myself. I also try to stay humble, be kind to everyone I meet, and enjoy the journey. I hope people remember me not just for my performances, but for the positive attitude and heart I bring to everything I do.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of so many amazing people. First and foremost, I’m incredibly grateful to my family. My mom has always been my biggest advocate, helping me prepare for auditions, driving me to rehearsals and performances, and encouraging me to keep chasing my dreams. My dad has been a constant source of support, always believing in me and cheering me on every step of the way. My grandparents have also been my biggest cheerleaders, celebrating every milestone and reminding me to always believe in myself.
I’m also thankful for my vocal coaches, acting teachers, directors, and choreographers who have helped me grow as a performer. They have challenged me to keep improving and have given me the confidence to take on new opportunities.
I’m especially grateful to everyone who has trusted me with opportunities to perform, from community theater directors to the organizations that have invited me to sing the National Anthem at sporting events. Every experience has helped me grow, both as a performer and as a person.
I know none of this would be possible without the love, encouragement, and support of the people around me. I’m so thankful for everyone who has been part of my journey, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next.
