Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurtis King.
Hi Kurtis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Amish Atlanta in 2010, with a phone call and an idea. I had just left Corporate America after 25 years, and was deciding what I should do. A friend of mine from Ohio suggested I come up and see this product, which was the handmade Amish polyethylene outdoor furniture. 16 years later, Amish Atlanta is bigger and better, and still growing. Our business is based on building lifelong , lasting relationships with our clients, and providing an incredible product. While we are located in the metro Atlanta area, we serve multiple states nationwide and continue to expand. Our team is very service driven, and we are committed to providing an incredible brand experience for all. We were also featured on the TV show, “Designing Spaces“, and that show is still being aired nationwide today. While our primary location and showroom is at the Airport Commerce Center, in Riverdale, Georgia, we also do the monthly show at “Scotts Antique Market“ the second Saturday weekend of every month,. We’re also available at “Table Talk“ in Senoia, GA. For the convenience of in-home shopping, you may visit our website at amishatlanta.net.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our road to Riverdale currently, took some turns and twists. The first building was an old auto shop that I redid with a lot of paint spackle, glass block, and love. It was located in the heart of the art District of Castleberry Hill, downtown Atlanta. We finally outgrew the space and moved to a larger space, which we were at for a year, before moving to our current location .As an independent owner, and true to most small businesses, there have been challenges along the way, specific to growth and expansion. We have, however, been very fortunate to have progressed and succeeded as we have. The journey however, is not finished.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Being the owner of Amish Atlanta, I wear several hats. My primary purpose is to interface and meet with incredible people who are looking for a great product specific to outdoor furniture. My gratification lies in building relationships, and providing an exceptional brand experience during the process of selection and placement. I am most proud of the retention of the majority of our clients, and the relationships fostered over the years. Being a small company, it affords me the opportunity to do several things not very common in today’s marketplace. When you dial the number, I’m going to answer. You actually get a live body to help. We handle your selection from start to finish like it is our own. Ultimately, the end goal is to ensure that our clients are 100% happy and satisfied!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
The biggest surprise I think is when people come to the showroom/warehouse for the first time, and are shocked with the degree and level of selection and inventory we have there. Equally, people are also surprised that our product is handmade by an actual Amish family.
