Today we’d like to introduce you to Latigra Poole.
Hi Latigra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first begin fixing hair at the age of 7, it began as a hobby as something to do and as I got older transitioned into something I had to do out of necessity due to financial hardship. I went to cosmetology school upon completion of high school, even then I didn’t take the profession seriously, again this was something I had to do. After finishing cosmetology school I still was in a space where I wasn’t as passionate about fixing hair as I should have been. It wasn’t until 4 years later when I moved to Georgia did I began to take being a hairstylist seriously. I initially started out at a kids salon and after working with kids, I became passionate about being a kids stylist. I love what I do, although I provide services for adults as well I enjoy working with children the most. I took a chance on my self & started Touched by Tee in May of 2018. In the beginning it was trial & error. I started off with maybe 15 clients & I had to teach myself GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Over the years I’ve learned & grown with my clients. Everyone I come in contact with is like family. Being able to make someone feel beautiful or handsome from a service I provide is more than enough for me!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not always been smooth & it still isn’t. Some seasons are better than others but you keep your head up & stay awake. Some seasons aren’t “braid seasons” meaning braids aren’t in at the moment. Sometimes you can’t control when you get sick & your health is a primary factor. Losing clientele because of unforeseen circumstances, these are things that put a strain on your business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in braiding for tender headed children or children who don’t like to get their hair done. If you have a hard time with your child’s hair I’m usually the “GO TO”. I’m most proud of my clients reactions after I’m done with their hair. The smiles I get after is worth it all! What’s sets me apart is I actually take the time to interact with your child’s hair. I give your child a sense of comfort to make them want to get their hair done even if they don’t want to get it done. My gentle touch sets me aside!
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
By looking at my work or watching me work you would never be able to tell that I NEVER really wanted to do hair.
