Conversations with Lourdes Bigio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lourdes Bigio.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out in the music industry in 2010 as event coordinator, I’ve met alot of important people and build relationship for many years , later started managing artist, started to host online radio, to having my own magazine publication to having my own radio show, to having my radio station today, ‘What’s Happening Now? New York Radio (www.fleetradionetwork.com).
A podcaster (Cafe con Lourdes). Writer/ producer (Love is Love -a short film). The newest addition is Cafe con Lourdes TV(film at Community Media of Staten Island).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road , especially with no financial backing at that time and getting treated differently because your a woman in this so called male dominated industry, but working hard and staying consistent, staying focus and grounded , you can achieve it all.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wear so many different hats: magazine, online Radio host, film producer, writer , director, managing and or offer promo service package(LJSupport) for artist, podcaster to tv talk show, member of Fleet DJ’s. I love all I do and I am proud of it all. I am not a quitter, I like to execute vision/uplift/help others to elevate as well. I am a Creator! I am known in the music industry as ‘SUNYDEW’.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Go out and network in the field you are in, nothing is too small nor too big , don’t treat people differently just because you might feel they are not at your level because that person can definitely bring something to the table that can help both grow …stay humble. A mentor is not someone you just find, A mentor for me has been someone that has seen your struggles, showed up and been there to see you thru it all ,will uplift and guide you, I’ve been bless to have someone in my life within the same field that I can Trust, tex or call anytime of day and night after 15 years plus of friendship.
