Conversations with Skylar Marie Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Marie Coffee.

Hi Skylar Marie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My success didn’t just happen overnight. I’ve been in the entertainment industry since I was a kid. I’ve been singing, rapping, dancing modeling and acting since I was 2-years old. I started out performing at dance recitals and local shows. I always knew how to draw an audience and entertain the crowd.

I first went viral on social media at the age of 15 simply by doing hair tutorials and makeup. I was gaining over 5000 followers every week and decided to start Skylar Marie Cosmetics & Beauty brand. Once I created a buzz and grew my followers to more than 230k, I decided now is the perfect time to introduce my new music that I’m very passionate about to my fans and supporters.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being in the entertainment industry is no joke. I’ve come across so many people trying to use me for what I have and what I’ve worked so hard for. You never know who to trust, who’s really genuine in this business and whose intentions are pure. Unfortunately, I had to learn that the hard way, so I’ve always kept my circle really small.

Social media is not always what it appears to be. You never really know what someone is truly going through in real life. Being an influencer and social media star, a lot of my fans look up to me thinking my life is perfect and wish they could be me, but they don’t even know the pressure I deal with on a daily basis. It gets very depressing dealing with the negative comments and people always judging. Sometimes I have to take a break from social media just to regroup.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I’m an entrepreneur, artist, model and actress. I’m known as a social media star creating hair and makeup tutorials. What I am most proud of is accomplishing my goals at such a very young age, such as owning my very own cosmetics line, becoming an independent artist, being featured on television, movies and music videos, performing at Ludacris Luda Fam Day, BET HipHop Awards, and many more.

I believe what sets me apart is my originality, my sweet and fun personality and being a quadruple threat in the industry.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Chasing my dreams to become an artist and also opening my own business was not easy at all. It was actually a huge risk for me. Not knowing if I will have the support from my fans if they will actually buy my product, or listen to my music, or even take me serious at a young age. A lot was racing through my mind….I was nervous and afraid not knowing what to expect. I’ve learned that sometimes you just have to take a chance in life and just step out on faith and that’s exactly what I did. That was the best decision I ever made. I have been very blessed to receive so much love and support and some amazing opportunities.

I would encourage everyone to never ever give up on your dreams no matter how hard it may seem. There will be trials and tribulations on your journey to success, but as long as you keep God first and foremost, you will never be last. I’ve always lived by that and I know without God, I would not be where I am today.
