Conversations with Taif Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taif Smith.

Hi Taif, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Taif Smith, I am 24 years old, from Moultrie, Ga.

For so long, I was searching for my purpose in life. Joining the military & also working in the logistics field. I graduated high school is 2015 and joined the military immediately after, did three and a half years on active duty and I finally got out in October 2018. I always had a great feeling about cutting someone’s hair and making them feel good about themselves, but I wasn’t sure that being a Master Barber was for me. Once I separated from the military, I moved back to Georgia and I started barbering school at SamVerly Barber College in downtown Atlanta. I then knew that being of service to my people was my purpose and that barbering was how I would be able to provide. The rest was history.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Yes, the road has been smooth so far. I feel like once you’ve figured out where you want to be and where you’re headed, things simply start to align for you.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Barbering in itself is an art. Master Barbers are literally able to provide people with life-changing looks and confidence boosts with just a haircut. Barbers and Hairstylists are more than just appearance boosters, we are able to provide other things such as great conversation and advice to our clients. The craft is simply amazing. I would say my customer service & my conversation really sets me apart from other barbers. I am able to connect with almost every age group, I’ve noticed that I have certain things in common with various age ranges. I am also very attentive to my clients’ wants and needs.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Staying in my own lane, moving at my own pace and understanding that growth is a daily thing would be a few lessons that I would love for people to understand. What’s for me is already waiting on me, God has a seat at the table for me that no one can take. Once I figured that out, I understood that my life had no limits.
