Daily Inspiration: Meet Akil Mccoy

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Akil Mccoy.

Hi Akil, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. To start, could you share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started at 19 doing makeup. By 21, I was working with reality stars. By 25, I started working with major stars and influencers. Now, at 30, I have worked with huge brands, magazines, TV shows, music videos, commercials, etc. I am blessed to still be working and thriving. I am giving it all to Jesus.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have experienced money shortages, depression due to not feeling worthy, and a lack of confidence in my work, but through it all, God has protected me and kept me, understanding that it’s only me and no one is my competition.

Thanks. What else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a makeup artist/creative/creator. I’m known for being a diverse, multi-talented MUA.

I’m most proud of being me and not comparing myself to anyone; I’m set apart because there’ll never be another Akilaface.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being able to create your own life, own schedule, own lane. Being able to travel, make money, and run your own business.

More than that, success is making sure you let Jesus lead you every step of the way and putting full faith in him.
