Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexis Flowers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Flowers.

Hi Alexis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To start off, my name is Alexis; some call me Lexie/Lexx, CEO of Hustle Hard Hair Studio. I’m originally from Miami, Fl but currently reside in Hampton,Ga. I started out young (maybe between the ages of10-12), picking up from friends and getting my hair done watching others. Watching the magic happen on others, I just knew it was for me. Hair is creativity! I am creative it matched me. I then started in my room practicing on friends, my mom, aunts and cousins. Practice practice practice! It became a passion of mine. I really didn’t have a set location when I felt that I was getting better. I was outside doing hair on my porch, from my porch to the living room to the kitchen, the garage, wherever I could plug up a blow dryer and some flat irons lol I was on it! The strength, continuation, the constructive criticism, the support, love, my faith, the she can’t has gotten me where I am today! Not in a salon but my husband has closed off a section of our home and made it into MY studio-Hustle Hard Hair Studio!! That’s it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth? Wow! No, not at all!!! Lol… I think anything you love wholeheartedly and want to do, it’ll never be smooth getting to where you want to go! It’s challenging with dealing with others, period. There’s different personalities you encounter daily, attitudes, energies, etc. That itself is challenging. Being a hairstylist is just not doing hair and that’s it. You also have to learn the business side of things, how to manage money, marketing skills, promoting yourself and that’s been a big struggle for me as far as promoting and marketing (I’m talking about now and not then) because for me I’m shy lol I’m quiet yes I will communicate and interact with my clients but that’s it! Social media is big now; most people do lives and pop-up shops and this is where I struggle at but one day at a time for me. I will overcome it and just do it! I struggled with knowing my worth as well, trying to please the clients and charging what I felt they should charge me or what they could afford… NOT TODAY!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hairstylist! I love making women feel great and look great! Once I spin them around in that chair and they smile… 😊 mission accomplished the fairy hair mother has done what she needed to do! 🧚🏾‍♀️ Inspite of what others may have said, I never gave up on my passion to be great at my talent. I specialize in braids, wig installs, plaits, and more! I’m known for slaying wigs and shortcuts! I’m most proud of my growth! Coming from the bottom, working my way up and gaining knowledge of what I love to do makes me proud! What sets me apart from others is my honesty, creativity, my connection, my willingness to learn and be better, my touch everybody’s different everyone has their own touch when comes to doing hair I do things my way I don’t do hair to copy someone else’s style we may have the same technique on some styles but MINE will look different. It’s MY touch!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The next 5-10 years I see my business growing more! My name will be out there I will be big in the next 5-10 years. I will be known! I see myself opening up a salon in the next 5-10 years. I see myself doing other big things as well, I’m currently working on other projects, so with my faith and the grace of God, business will be big!
