Daily Inspiration: Meet Alfred Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfred Johnson.

Hi Alfred, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started off writing lil freestyles and diss track with some friends. Had a homie in New York who used to beat me in those diss writing sessions all the time. Started recording when I got out in the room with folks that were really dropping music. Was going to open mics. Really started recording when I got reacquainted with the woman that turned out to be my wife later in life. Met some of her people doing open mics. We started a group called DAI crew. Sadly the group didn’t last that long but we definitely did a lot before running out of gas. Now I’m just going through Stanton music and taking care of my family at the same time. Ready to put the finishing touches on this new album I’m planning on dropping in the near future.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding my self as an artist. Which I’m still forming that up. Having a daughter states away from me. A wife and son now. Being “old” in my early 30’s. Maintaining confidence and the right mind to keep pushing. But I get reminders that I have no business stopping.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a rap artist for sure. I write raps. From the hook, chorus, verses, etc. I’ve done strictly hooks before too. But I’m deep into music.

What matters most to you?
My family and music. Music has gotten me out of a lot of trouble and kept me sane. Family keeps me pushing to show and prove. Good balance. Cause both of them really gets me forward and improving myself everyday.
