Daily Inspiration: Meet Ania Howard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ania Howard.

Hi Ania, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Instagram enabled my potential to grow in a field I can be most comfortable in. One day, I posted a DIY video on how to distress a tee, and a couple of girls dm me asking to buy. Mind you, I wasn’t even selling anything, nor was it my desire to sell vintage tee’s. I thought about it for a week and just trusted the process. I bought five tee’s, distressed them, prayed over them, and posted them one random night. That same night they were all sold. I promise you I cried for 2 hours straight! The fact that five females TRUSTED my work was enough for me. Over time, so many ladies ask, and I continued for them. Oh, and they all looked so damn good!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When you start something new, it’s not going to be easy. Since my father passed due to Covid, it’s been tough to continue throughout the day. Then, I remember how strong he was to make it happen for his children, so I have no choice but to keep going. I owe my parents everything. Also, all the new people I’ve encountered throughout this unique experience has been incredibly humbling. They trust my work and abilities; I owe them as well!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been working in retail for five years now. One of my biggest accomplishments that I can share is that I’ve worked in almost all the top luxury department stores throughout those five years. All managers in retail depend on workers to give quality customer service and stay dedicated to their position; I delivered that and more. My background in this industry made selling online more manageable. I’m also proud to be featured in essence magazine! That was a total shock, and I’ll always be grateful for that recognition.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid-19 allowed death to knock on my door on my 23rd birthday. I never thought my father’s death would be the cause of my pain! None of his children had a chance to get closure. How can a disease kill a HEALTHY person so quickly? I promise, I trust God’s decision, but every day it gets harder. However, I have a bomb-ass mother who picks up all the pieces for all of her children. She makes it easier to keep going. My father’s death hurt my entire soul, but he’s my reason. I keep going for my parents and family. I guess I do have “Strength” tattooed on my chest for a reason.
