Daily Inspiration: Meet Breah Stevens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breah Stevens.

Hi Breah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Breah but everyone knows me as Breeze. I’m from Detroit, MI and a graduate from Alabama State University with a bachelor’s in mass communication specializing in radio/tv. I am a mother to a beautiful baby girl that was born this June. My passion for media started back when I was a little girl. I was infatuated with movies and sitcoms and it was my dream to either be in one as an actor or to create my own. I got to where I am today from my connections through my university, my support system back in Detroit, and never taking no for an answer.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road for me. I’ve faced plenty of hardships and rejections before I finally got my chance. However, I knew that God had big plans for me and if I just trusted him through my process that I would see the end results work in my favor. Being from the west side of Detroit the things I wanted to conquer seemed far out of my reach. I just had to be sure that my surroundings didn’t consume me. But let me tell you about God!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer that turned into a movie director. In college, everyone knew me as “Breeze on the Lens.” I took photos for every event, party, homecoming concert; you name it. Eventually, I branched off from college events and started doing behind-the-scenes photography for music videos here in Atlanta. I’m most proud of being able to use photography as a stepping stool to get into my career as a director. I knew I didn’t want to get stuck in only doing photography. I wanted more. What sets me aside from others is simply my hustle. I can guarantee that if I’m not the best at what I’m doing, I’m definitely working the hardest. My work ethic and ambition is unmatched. Even before I had a kid, I had this mindset but having my daughter makes me go 100 times harder.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is a great question! Something that people don’t know about me is that I can also act. I went to acting schools all throughout my childhood. I’m actually pretty good but I fell in love with behind the scenes over the years. I plan to land a role in a movie in the next two years.
