Today we’d like to introduce you to Collyn Zielesch.
Hi Collyn , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a true Georgia peach born and raised! I spent 25 years in the legal field (yes, lots of paperwork and precision), but I always had a creative side waiting to come out. Eventually, I decided it was time to do something for me, and that’s how I started building my permanent jewelry business.
I love experiences that bond people together and create lasting memories and permanent jewelry does just that. These days, I’m focused on growing my business while also spending some time assisting an elderly couple, which has been incredibly rewarding and keeps me grounded. One of my favorite parts is meeting new people especially other local business owners and building those connections along the way.
Another positive is it’s turned into a family affair. My mom is retired and now my right-hand helper, and we’ve made it our mission to not only build something special, but to have fun doing it. We always joke that we’re funding our next family vacation one bracelet at a time and making memories along the way!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road but that’s part of the journey! From the outside, permanent jewelry can look simple… just a quick little spark and you’re done. But in reality, there’s a lot of practice that goes into getting that perfect weld.
In the beginning, I was watching all the videos and buying more supplies than I probably needed, instead of just setting up my equipment and practicing. I also quickly realized I needed a magnifying glass to see those tiny jump rings something I didn’t expect at all!
The biggest learning curve was working with real clients. It’s very different practicing on your own versus having someone sitting in front of you, moving, talking, and trusting you to get it just right. It can definitely be nerve-wracking at first. But over time, with practice, I’ve become more confident and much faster.
One thing I’ve learned is that clients really just want you to do a good job—they’re not worried if it takes a couple tries to get the perfect weld. That realization helped me relax, trust the process, and truly grow in my craft.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Love, LuLo Permanent Jewelry, I offer custom-fit bracelets, anklets, and necklaces in sterling silver and 14k gold-filled chains, all welded on for a seamless, clasp-free look. Each piece is meant to be simple, beautiful, and long-lasting something you can wear every day as a reminder of a special moment or connection.
What I really specialize in is creating an experience. Whether someone is coming in with a friend, celebrating something meaningful, or just treating themselves, I love being part of those moments and helping turn them into something lasting.
I’m most proud of taking a leap of faith on myself and stepping out of a 25-year career and investing in something completely new. It’s been even more special getting to build this alongside my mom. Working together and growing something as a family has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
What sets me apart is the care I have for my clients even after they leave my chair. I always make sure they have my information so they can reach me if they ever need an adjustment, removal, or have any questions. Building a positive, trusting client base is incredibly important to me and I want every person to feel taken care of and confident in their piece long after their appointment.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting my own business has definitely been a financial and personal risk. I have a husband and two boys, so it’s not just about me, there’s time, money, and responsibility involved. Stepping away from something stable after 25 years to try something new wasn’t something I took lightly.
That said, I’ve always believed that overthinking can keep you stuck. At some point, I had to stop researching and planning and just take the leap. I kept telling myself, it’s never too late to learn something new and build something on your own.
Taking that step into something unknown was scary, but I’ve learned that growth usually lives right outside your comfort zone. I don’t see risk as being reckless I see it as choosing to believe in yourself even when there are no guarantees.
