Hi Crystal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I started my business in 2018 when I was in CSR at Progressive. All my life, I felt I was meant to be my own boss. I felt it every single day, I just couldn’t ignore that feeling. I actually remember what triggered me to begin my own business in the Brow Industry. I was always good at my own brows, never ever thought of taking it to a business pint, but as I got older, I wanted to do what came to me naturally something that never felt forced. If you’ve seen Brow Artist ‘Browz N Beauty!’ She’s an amazing PMU, and she was the first I’ve seen to take over the Ombre Powder game! Watching her consistency, her success really made me believe a career in BROWS could all be so possible for me. I found a class in Tampa that could certify me, and I immediately got my state License for PMU. And I took off. I started exploring and offering services like Brow Shaping Arching & Tinting. I added on Lash Extensions to my services around 2020. And the journey has been amazing, I feel like a One Stop Shop for ladies. I was able to leave my job in 2021 with no fear and I’ve been full-time self-employed for six months and I’m getting better each month. It’s crazy to see how far I’ve come, and the trust woman from all over trust me with their beauty services each week. I am forever grateful to the people that keep me going, and it takes discipline, you have to wake up & see yourself in a bigger position or the position you know you deserve and are FIT for. And work towards nothing but that! Don’t look around, don’t compare just be you! Do YOUR best for YOU at YOUR own pace. God can’t give you your blessings if you’re trying to be someone else. – Proper Brows and Lash LLC

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all, I don’t want any aspiring entrepreneur to think that this is easy or it comes overnight. Because if it was WE WOULD ALL BE DOING IT! I will say that the journey is up to you. It’s very important t stay strong-minded. You have people that run businesses for years before they see a full calendar, and you have people seeing that in a year. One is Dedicated to the future. One is reliant on the present. Sometimes we get very comfortable, and I think that has been one of the hardest things, not feeling too bossy or too controlling. Some days you may want to chill out and take off, and this gives you the luxury to do so! When deserved. Meaning, yes we can take days off. But we don’t have employees to fill in for us .. 90% of the time it starts out JUST being us! SO BABY STEPS!!!! No days off until we can do it comfortably.

A lot of new entrepreneurs think money will come very easily. I will say have a budget and stick Toit! A true businesswoman knows, your Sales are not your profit. It takes money to make money. So I struggled greatly with managing it, I was making lots of money each day but it was not managed. And when it’s not you will overspend on self before your business. YES, it’s yours. but your business is depending on you to continue to run

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Brow Tint Artist, Lash Extension Specialist, Brow Lamination Artist, Brow Wax Specialist and Permanent Makeup Artist. My most booked service is Brow Tinting & Lash Extensions. Those would be my most known services. I’m proud of the expansion I Tok from Just brows to Brows & Lashes, it was the smartest thing I’ve ever done for my business, it took me to a wider reach of clients, a more diverse clientele, more COMBO bookings, and a full calendar. What sets me apart from others is my customization, a lot of times clients express having brows, but not bris that match them. Just brows. And I believe whether lashes, brows or hair. Each service should be customized to each client, face, hair structure, etc. I really am passionate about doing what works for YOU not just what looks good.

How do you think about luck?
No, I’m not lucky; I’m BLESSED! YES! LOL, I’ve always been raised to say I’m Blessed not lucky, even before the song. SO I will say that God has played the main role in my life & business. And I’m a firm believer in God is Good and Good is from God. I don’t think I would be as far as I am and so optimistic abut my future if it wasn’t for the faith I carry each day. The faith that has been in me forever.
