Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius Bonner.
Darius, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I first created Golden Child Custom Fits, I didn’t know the direction I wanted to go. I was torn between starting a suit brand vs. streetwear. I decided to dig deeper and ask God for guidance when it came to finding my own lane. My style is combined together with being dapper and preppy, so why not start a Prep Brand!
I got started with being a tailor on campus in 2013 at Clark Atlanta University, doing alterations for the students in the AUC and Professors. I later begin a new journey and was receiving lessons sewing lessons from My Teacher, Ms. Antoinette who slowed me down when it came to finding a direction in creating my brand. She definitely inspired me to be unique and to let the world see my brand for what it is, “GOLDEN ‘.
I was bless to have an apprenticeship at Q’s Tailor, where I completed my apprenticeship with Esteban Guzman. Mr. Guzman taught me everything I needed to know about being a master tailor. I had the opportunity to work with my brands at Phipps plaza, athletes and celebrities.
In 2021, I am now the Master Tailor/CEO of Golden Child Custom Fits. GCCF is Prep brand that is free and available to everyone!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey is always a process that will humble you and make you want to go harder. I had a lot of struggles when it came to staying confident and putting my faith out there to let the world see my designs. Without God guiding my steps and putting the right people on my side, I wouldn’t be here nor have my own collection.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Master Tailor/Creative Director, Medical Social Worker and Style Etiquette teacher. I am known for my exclusive designs and commitment to helping my clients. I am proud of where God is taking me and blessing me with more opportunities to make the world GOLDEN. What sets me apart from other brands is our Unique style that will exemplify Pride, Prestige and Prep wear. We build wardrobes and uplift our customer’s Self-Esteem!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Optimism, Faith, Patience and Staying True to the Brand & Yourself!!
