Daily Inspiration: Meet David Ali

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ali.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m now a professional wrestler in the state of GA.

Before moving to Atlanta, I was just a “Navy Brat” who moved from one place to another with his father, mother and sister until my father retired and settled us in his hometown of Chattanooga, TN until I graduated from high school. Living in Chattanooga was surprisingly prejudiced after having been to so many states and countries where race didn’t matter.

It’s because of this, growing into a man seeing how the world could just see my color before they saw the person, I never thought that I; 5’9, half black half Indian (from India) would ever have a legitimate chance at becoming a pro wrestler- my dream since I was a little boy.
Wrestling at the time 6, 7 years ago was dominated by giants and meat heads, but once I was old enough and wrestling schools became more open about training for wrestling, I packed my bags with my then fiancé and I moved to Atlanta to begin training.

5 years later, after having to grind to hit the road, post several jobs, declined my health, lost my fiancé and peers I considered friends, I became not only the top wrestler in GA by winning the Southern Honor Wrestling Championship, but I’ve also had the privilege of being featured on AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and being able to try out for the WWE.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road lol. As I previously stated, I built relationships going into wrestling with my first trainer and his wife only for business to interfere and cause neglect in my training. Add to that my focus on enhancing my skill caused me to inadvertently lose focus on my fiancé which caused her to leave me for another wrestler at a time where I was battling some career threatening injuries. I can’t blame her at all whatsoever.

And because I was so… determined to make Pro Wrestling a successful career, I sacrificed job after job after job trying to hit the pavement with just the hope of POSSIBLY being noticed for my efforts. So I’ve lived off of a diet of barely eating but always trying to work out for a good while. But I believe you have to do WHATEVER it takes for something you love.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional wrestler on the Independent scene at the moment. I was previously known as “the Street Fighter” but I’ve evolved into what I’m known for now, “The Savior”; a megalomaniac who belief in himself is so strong, that it enables him to do extraordinary things and pushes his challengers to the brink to become the best versions of themselves.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve won the biggest prize in my state (the Southern Honor Wrestling Championship) and having done work for the 2 biggest wrestling companies in the world today. A feat I never dreamed possible, but that I worked hard to obtain.
The thing that sets me apart the most is my character work and my “promo game” lol

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Wrestling has always been up and down but it’s always around, and it will be for… forever. Lol I believe the continued realism and athleticism will only push wrestling to forefront of the mainstream and help legitimize what we do as not just “sports entertainment” but a real “sport”
