Daily Inspiration: Meet Destiny Lanese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Lanese.

Hi Destiny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My professional career began in 2018. I placed in a talent show and won the opportunity to begin performing as a featured artist at a casino in my hometown. From there, I was booked for conferences, weddings, parties, and live shows. Then, in February 2019, I dropped my first single, “Haunted Healing”, a self-produced alternative R&B track that explored the aftermath of tumultuous relationships. Until that moment, I never intended to be a producer. I was invited to Hot 105.7 for an artist interview and was planning on debuting my single. The producer stalled and stalled with completing the record and the night before the interview, he said he wasn’t coming. No one was available to come through on such short notice as the interview was the next day. It forced me to get in the lab and make something to have to play for the DJ. I worked in my studio from 8am that day until 4:47 that afternoon, ran home and showered, and was at the radio station by 5:30pm. To this day, I never had that record professionally engineered because it always reminds me that I showed up and came through for me. It’s still one of my favorite songs in my catalogue. Since then, I’ve released 4 studio projects, 2 live recordings, and opened for Grammy nominated artists like Silk and Joe. In May 2026, I dropped my first short film entitled “ReRoute” and it’s doing well and picking up traction. This year will finish off being a busy one. I’m scheduled to drop my fifth studio project “For Real this Time” in Fall 2026 and go on my first tour following that drop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge thus far has been building a solid team. It’s something that takes time because we’re all growing and changing. Finding that right group of people that want to grow with you and go to the same heights that you do is what I’m working on now. It’s not something I stress over though. I do have some wonderful people that I’ve met along the way so I’m grateful for every experience. Whether it’s a blessing or a lesson, every level of this journey is something to look back and reflect on. Soon, someone will use my journey and rise to success as a blueprint for another way to achieve their dreams.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When people hear the name “Destiny Lanese”, they think of the one that finally expresses all the emotions and deep thoughts they desperately wanted to detail but never were able to find the words to do so for so long. I offer an experience. So many times when people listen to my music, they often stop after the first verse or chorus and start the song over. I consistently see their attention shift to really feeling what they are hearing. Absorbing more than responding. Experiencing rather than critiquing. That’s what is most important to me as an artist. I focus on telling my stories as vividly as I can. I want people’s experience with my music to feel like sitting at a quaint diner on a busy street in Paris talking with your best friend over a glass of wine…and- at the same time, jumping on a trampoline until you can hear your heartbeat. I want my listeners to take the ride with me. I want them to find their own-selves and their own ways through this musical journey.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
