Daily Inspiration: Meet Nissa The SuperStylist

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nissa The SuperStylist.

Hi Nissa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Nissa, a celebrity hairstylist turned entrepreneur and emerging artist. I was born in Lomé, Togo, raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and moved to Atlanta in 2019 to chase my dreams. My journey into music began unexpectedly when my husband, who used to do music, had a stroke and stepped away from creating. Out of love and determination, I decided to carry that torch for us, performing, and building a brand that reflects our shared dreams.

As a stylist, I’ve worked with major names like Asian Doll and Kiluminati, Jada kingdom and I’ve toured with cast members from Baddies Africa, including Kold Killa, Fania, and Kay Rican. I run a thriving hair business and product line, Glo Hair Products, and have my own reality show, Poly Glamorous in the hhntv network to share my story and inspire others.

My journey is about resilience, turning pain into purpose, and using every platform I touch to uplift others while honoring the man who inspired it all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been far from easy. When my husband had his stroke, things changed overnight. He was my biggest supporter and the reason I even stepped into music, but watching him lose his ability to create pushed me to pick up the mic and carry that dream for us both. While balancing his recovery, I was running a business, caring for my family, and trying to stay strong when everything felt uncertain.

On top of that, I faced betrayal in my personal life.. my poly relationship ended due to disloyalty during the time my husband was in the hospital, which was an emotional blow during an already difficult period. I’ve also battled major financial struggles, industry gatekeeping, and the constant pressure of being a young entrepreneur trying to break through.

Every obstacle taught me resilience. I learned to take pain and turn it into purpose, to stay consistent when the odds were stacked against me, and to prove that faith and hard work can open doors no one can close.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist first, using music as a way to tell my story and inspire others. My journey into music began after my husband, who is also my creative partner, suffered a stroke. Even though he stepped away from performing, we turned that challenge into motivation to build something bigger together. I’ve been carving out my own lane with a unique afro and club-inspired sound, performing in clubs and growing my presence in Atlanta while connecting with fans face-to-face.

Before music, I built a successful career as a hairstylist and entrepreneur, launching my own product line.. Glo hair products and building a loyal following in the beauty industry. Now, I’m merging music, beauty, and entrepreneurship into one brand that inspires confidence and empowerment.  Everything  comes from a place of authenticity and resilience, and determination to succeed.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Atlanta is its culture and energy. The city is full of creatives, entrepreneurs, and go-getters, and it feels like a place where you can reinvent yourself and truly build a name. Atlanta gave me the space to grow my brand, connect with other artists, and turn my dreams into reality. The mix of music, fashion, and business here keeps me inspired every day.

What I dislike most is the gatekeeping. There’s so much talent here, but sometimes opportunities are kept in tight circles, making it hard for new voices to break through. I’ve learned to push past that by staying consistent, building my own platform, and creating opportunities not just for myself, but for others too.
