Daily Inspiration: Meet Hannah Mains

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Mains.

Hi Hannah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in fashion merchandising. In college, I had various job opportunities in the styling, editorial, and PR spaces in fashion. I interned for a celebrity stylist in Los Angeles, with L’OFFICIEL magazine, and was the Editor in Chief of our student-ran fashion magazine. I also was on the PR team for our student-ran fashion show. Since graduating, I now work for a home decor and lifestyle brand doing marketing, PR and event planning. I also have a part-time job working for a styling subscription brand and actively seek out opportunities to get more involved with PR and event-planning, such as planning mid-sized festivals, pop-ups and activations.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I still feel like I have a lot to learn and lots of opportunities ahead of me. The path I’ve been on so far has taught me a lot about myself, what I like and don’t like, what I am good at and what direction I want to head in as far as building my career goes. I wouldn’t say it’s been easy, but I like being challenged and feel like that is what pushes me to grow. The things I learned were not for me were a challenge to see through to the end but it was worth it and I felt it was important to see these things through as commitment is important to me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My full-time job is for a home decor and lifestyle brand where I help support our PR and marketing strategies by managing media relations, brand partnerships, social media content calendars and supporting influencer partnerships and collaborations. I also have the opportunity to plan events for our showroom multiple times a year which I’ve learned I really love. Events are a lot of fun and a fantastic way to be creative and create shared, personalized experiences for others. There is a lot of opportunity in event-planning and partnerships and I try to chase that in my career as much as I can. I actively seek out other opportunities in my community to continue to learn, grow and challenge myself in these areas. I recently worked to help plan this year’s Porchfest in Virginia Highland and organized the first ever ‘Porchfest x In the Wild’ dating event with the intention of attendees finding their date to Porchfest (and hopefully beyond)! Since I went to school for fashion, I also still have a part-time job styling with a clothing subscription company which allows for me to continue to build on my styling skills and stay connected to the fashion industry. I am a creative, passionate individual with big ideas, a willingness to solve problems, and make myself indispensable in a workplace setting. I have big ideas and am inspired by a ‘no fear’ mindset.

What were you like growing up?
I think my interests were relatively the same as they are today, I was always very creative and into the arts; painting, music, going to concerts or festivals, and studied fashion in high school as well. I think I was definitely a bit more shy than I am now but feel that I have really grown into myself and am much more outgoing, passionate and willing to make things happen. I am adventurous and like to challenge myself in all aspects of my life, something that I think has only really developed as I’ve been to and graduated from college.
