Daily Inspiration: Meet Kashy T

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kashy T.

Kashy T

Hi Kashy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’m Kashy, one of the biggest self-taught celebrity barbers in the game. I’m 23 but I turn 24 in 2 days ( may 6 ), I started cutting when I was like 16; one day I found a pair of clippers in my neighborhood & started to cut myself & all my friends in the neighborhood, my mom had 5 kids, so I was cutting for little to nothing, sometimes I would cut my friends for snacks, noodle cups, etc., sometimes even for free just to practice. I started to fall in love with the art of cutting, so I started posting my cuts on social media & started gaining traction.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has somewhat been a blur for me because the whole time, I was doing something I love, so all this time has gone by & I barely noticed how long & how hard I’ve been putting in work; I just wake up & get to it, the only struggles would be trying to balance time with myself, my family & my craft, sometimes work can take over your whole life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a celebrity barber but I never called myself a barber, I always called myself an artist & over time it inspired other barbers to see themselves as artist. People say my work is easily noticeable & stands out because, well, idk why, lol. Maybe because it’s one of the sharpest lineups they have ever seen.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned would be, never forget to care for yourself. When you are so focused on your goals, you tend to forget to put yourself first over your business because, without you, there’s nothing.
