Daily Inspiration: Meet Kennedy Homan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Homan.

Hi Kennedy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer with a heart rooted deeply in nostalgia and connection. I’ve always been a super sentimental person—someone who holds tight to the little moments and the quiet details that make life feel full and real. That’s exactly what led me to pick up a camera in the first place. I didn’t want to just take photos—I wanted to keep feelings.

I got into photography because I realized how powerful it is to freeze moments that would otherwise slip by unnoticed. Over the years, this has grown into a mission to help people slow down and truly feel their moments, not just pose for them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced in the industry is believing that I wasn’t “good enough” or “qualified enough” to call myself a photographer. Like so many creatives, I struggled with imposter syndrome, especially in the beginning. I would look at other photographers’ work and constantly compare myself, worrying that I didn’t belong in the same space or that people wouldn’t see value in what I created.

What helped me break out of that mindset was realizing that the very thing I thought made me “less than” was actually what made my work meaningful: my heart for nostalgia, my deep care for real, imperfect moments, and my dedication to creating trust with my clients. My clients weren’t hiring me for perfect, magazine-style poses—they were choosing me because I help them feel comfortable, seen, and genuinely themselves.

I had to unlearn the idea that there’s a single definition of what makes someone “professional enough.” I learned that my connection with people and my ability to make them feel at ease is just as valuable as any technical skill. Once I embraced that, I stopped comparing so much and leaned fully into what makes my work mine—and my business has grown so much because of it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart is my approach. I don’t rush through shoots or force perfect poses. Instead, I create a space where you can relax, connect, and share real moments—because those in-between glances and quiet interactions are where your true story lives.

I’m most proud when my clients tell me that looking at their photos brings them right back to how it felt to be there. That’s the heart of my work: creating images that feel like tangible memories, full of warmth and connection.

For anyone considering working with me, I want you to know that my goal isn’t perfection—it’s truth, beauty, and honest emotion. If you want photos that feel like memories and an experience that feels like a gentle pause in your busy life, I’m here for you.

What are your plans for the future?
The biggest change on the horizon is that my husband and I are welcoming our first baby in May, which feels both grounding and creatively expansive in ways I’m still discovering. I’m really looking forward to learning how motherhood and my work can exist alongside each other — not as opposing forces, but as something deeply intertwined.

Creatively, I’m excited to slow down in the best way. I want to continue building a photography business that leaves room for presence — with my family and with my clients — and allows me to approach my work with even more intention. I’m drawn to documenting moments that feel layered and lived-in, and I know becoming a mother will inevitably shape the way I see and capture those moments.

Moving forward, my focus is on sustainability — creating work that feels meaningful, building a life that allows for flexibility, and trusting that growth doesn’t always mean bigger or faster, but often deeper.
