Daily Inspiration: Meet Mallory Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallory Richardson.

Hi Mallory, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started as a plus-sized model from the pageantry world and my styling business. I was recruited by existing plus-sized models as I showed promise to them based on the deficit of plus-sized indigenous women, especially those in the fashion business from North Carolina. I quickly acclimated and committed myself and finances to traveling, networking and building a rapport within the plus-sized fashion community and industry by casting for several runway shows, building my portfolio with reputable industry photographers and traveling to build my experience and social media networks.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I say that to say it has gotten easier with time, relationships and navigating my way through experiences that weren’t so fruitful to connect with those that were. By building my own brand and creating my own lane, I was and have been able to stand the test of time. I have now worked with over 50 brands, businesses and creatives in my six years of modeling and business as a producer, coach and small business myself.

Learning how to create opportunities along the way has continued to gage interest in my personal brand and grow my network, platform and reach. I haven’t always had the money, the time or the energy but the Creator and myself have aligned in a way to make it all work out in my favor. I have been the face of a national brand, modeled internationally and signed to an agency within this timeframe, plus created my own multifacitied business along the way. Despite any hardship, I have fought to the finish to remain, Malthemodel. A reputable and ethical brand that continues to collaborate connect others and build a since of community for others to thrive. That I am extremely thankful for.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have learned that we are the biggest challenge in our own development. We stop ourselves before others have the chance to even offer us an opportunity. We must always value our artistry and craft and stop at nothing until someone or several people can value us just the same. Being a part of a higher calling has challenged me to keep going despite any obstacle I may face during my journey. The Platform Experience is my LLC that promotes diversity and inclusion in all capacities. We see to produce, execute and develop other small businesses and provide them with insights to grow and build a community within themselves and income that will continue to stimulate their efforts, whether modeling, small business, e-commerce and more.

How do you define success?
I define success as the efforts given to attain a set goal. If not provided an opportunity with that arena, success is rerouting and creating a workable strategy to attain the ultimate short and long-term goals you create for yourself or your business. Success also isn’t singular to career. It involves your personal life and mental health accordingly. Success doesn’t define a lane or aspect but rather all-encompassing to anything you wish to achieve during your time on earth. We help to create those opportunities and visions for our clients all the time. We ask the purposeful questions necessary during our one on one consultations and seek to exceed the goals of our clients, that just how much we believe in their brands from the beginning of our relationships with them.
