Daily Inspiration: Meet Mikecia Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikecia Wilson.

Mikecia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My modeling career began with encouragement to start print modeling from long-time friends DeMarkus Pinkney and Roberto Davis-Boles. My first photoshoot resulted in numerous amount of compliments and curiosity for more which all resulted in me deciding to seriously pursuit captivating the model industry. In spring of 2014, I joined FACES Modeling Troupe Inc. where I further expand my range of modeling and have participated in a multitude of modeling projects, hair shows, instructing classes and judges panels. In 2016-2017, I was crowned Florida’s Next Top Model Runner Up and also crowned Best Standard Model in Florida 2018-2019. Being featured on whole wide television shows and movies such as Leave It To Stevie season 1, How High 2 & Superfly. Today, I am now a published/professional model and runway model coach/coordinator.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? What’s that lol but on a serious note, many people told me not be pursue my modeling career due to my diagnosis Epilepsy (seizures). Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness. Having this condition will not stop my dreams. I will continue to strive to be the best model I can be and be able to influence others with similar conditions.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional model, runway model coach and model coordinator. I strive to help and improve models in any and every way possible. On & off the runway. I am most proud and thankful for how far I have come in this modeling industry. Putting myself out there and setting a name for myself as a professional model and my brand.

What set me apart from others is my hard work & dedication to my craft. I am very passionate about my work. My runway walk speaks for itself.

What were you like growing up?
Whew, growing up was cool. It wasn’t always great. I appreciate the struggles and lessons that was taught to me.

Personality-wise, I believe the things I went through as a child made me into a strong and outspoken woman I am today.

Interest wise I always loved to skate and dance.
