Today we’d like to introduce you to Seon Shoopman.
Hi Seon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started being interested in the arts when I was really little. I grew up with two of my biggest inspirational artists; my gramps and uncle. I grew up around them, drawing all the time and having comic book collections. I started drawing cartoons, watching and enjoying animation, and getting into acting.
This pretty much followed me through college, getting my bachelor’s degree in 3D computer animation and a certificate in acting. Following graduation, I worked for a video game company in Florida, doing animation for animatronics on a new Universal Studios attraction ride opening in 2025. Immediately after, I got an animation job for a Visual Effects animation studio working on movies and tv shows, which brought me to Atlanta, GA.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to where I am now has not been easy! There has been a lot of self-doubt and worry if I could amount to my goals and aspirations. Getting into animation and acting is definitely not smooth and takes much dedication and passion. The struggle with animation is that it is very competitive and you have to pay close attention to detail. It is very intricate work and a lot of starting over an entire project from scratch, sometimes those projects are ones that took you days or even months to complete.
The struggle with acting can be the same! It is very competitive with hundreds and thousands of auditions against hundreds and thousands of other actors. The biggest struggle I’ve had with acting is really understanding a character and being able to break it down enough to give the best impersonation of that character I can that the writers and director have for it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor and animator. On the animation side, I specialize in 3D computer animation and have worked on many tv shows and movies. That includes animating characters, creatures, buildings, vehicles, and different props/objects. I am most proud of animating on three episodes of The Umbrella Academy Season 3 on Netflix!
After a year of animation, I moved onto acting and have been doing that for six months. I recently completed a short film and an independent feature film!
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are being the best actor that I can and landing big roles in movies or tv shows. I eventually want to move to California
