Daily Inspiration: Meet Seth Yankson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Yankson.

Hi Seth , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my journey in Ghana with a simple passion for beauty and creativity. At just 12 years old, I discovered my love for hair and in that moment, I knew it was more than just an interest, rather it was a passion and a priceless gift from God Almighty.

Determined to develop my talent, I enrolled at the College of Cosmetology in Accra, Ghana, in 2010. After graduating, I was honored to be employed by the same institution, where I served as the Head Stylist. I spent eight impactful years working in the salon, sharpening my skills and gaining valuable experience.

During this time, I also began offering house-to-house services as a freelance hairstylist, building personal connections with clients and expanding my reach. In 2012, I fully embraced freelance hairstyling, focusing on mobile services. Then, on June 1st, 2013, I took a major step forward and established HairGuru Studio in Accra, Ghana bringing my vision of a professional and creative space to live.

With over 20 years of experience in the hair industry, my passion has only continued to grow by the grace of God. As my skills evolved, so did my vision not just to succeed personally, but to make a greater impact. This drive led me to expand beyond Ghana, carrying my culture, creativity, and expertise into new spaces.

Over time, I refined my craft, specializing in bridal hairstyling and building a brand rooted in elegance, professionalism, and transformation.

Today, I am not only a bridal hairstylist but also a wig maker and educator. I have transformed my passion into a thriving business, serving brides on one of the most important days of their lives while also teaching others the skills I worked so hard to master.

My journey is a testament to starting with what you have, staying consistent, and trusting the process of growth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I remember when I first went to pick up a form at hair school. The next step was to pay my tuition and officially start, but in that moment, I realized there was no financial support coming from anywhere.

I had to pause my plans and wait for an entire year just to save enough money to enroll. It was a very difficult time for me because my parents weren’t in a position to help financially. Everything depended on me.

The little money I earned from doing hair for clients was what I consistently saved, bit by bit, until I could finally afford to go to hair school. It wasn’t easy, but that season taught me resilience and determination.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a bridal hairstylist, wig maker, and educator with a passion for creating timeless, elegant looks. I specialize in my signature Hollywood glam waves as well as soft, natural hairstyles that enhance each bride’s unique beauty.

What I’m most known for and what keeps my clients coming back is my ability to deliver flawless, polished styles that photograph beautifully and last throughout the entire event.

What I’m most proud of is being able to truly bring each bride’s vision to live. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing my brides feel confident, radiant, and completely feeling the best of themselves on such an important day. That experience is what drives me and sets my work apart.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have had both good and bad ‘luck’ in my journey. Some opportunities came at the perfect time, and others didn’t work out the way I expected. But honestly, those challenging moments pushed me to grow, improve my craft, and be more intentional in my business. So I see luck as something you create by staying ready and resilient.
