Dr. Ria Newton of South Fulton on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Ria Newton and have shared our conversation below.

Ria , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
“I think a lot of people are quietly carrying stress and unhealed trauma. The economy is weighing heavily on everyone right now the rising cost of food, the pressure of keeping up with bills, and the uncertainty of job layoffs. When you combine those real life struggles with past trauma that hasn’t been fully healed, it creates triggers that can show up as anxiety, depression, or even relationship struggles. Many people don’t feel comfortable talking about it, so they suffer in silence.

That’s exactly why I wrote my self-help book, Heal and Let That Sh*t Go*, which comes out on October 16th. It’s a resource for people who are ready to release what’s been weighing them down. Beyond the book, I also run a counseling center that offers affordable support, including discounted services for low-income households. I want people to know that healing is possible, and they don’t have to face these challenges alone.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dr. Ria Newton aka Dr. Ri With The T. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, I have always carried a deep sense of intuition, born an empath with clairvoyant abilities that guides my healing work today. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Human Behavior and Psychology, and a PhD in Parapsychology, I have bridged the worlds of science, spirit, and holistic wellness in a way that is both practical and transformative.

As a certified Tarot Reader and Hypnotherapist, I created Ri With The T, a spiritual advisory business where I offer Tarot, Oracle, and Pendulum readings to help clients gain clarity and healing. I am also the creator of Ri With The T’s Oracle Deck and the author of the powerful self-help book Heal and Let That Sh*t Go*, a guide to shadow work and releasing trauma.

Recently, I expanded my mission of healing by opening HEAL-ERGY Holistic Counseling and Wellness, a counseling office dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s most difficult challenges. The center specializes in general counseling, domestic violence, postpartum depression, miscarriage support, women’s health, and group sessions. Services are offered both in-person and virtually, with affordable pricing and special discounts for low-income households. Making healing accessible to all.

Beyond counseling, I also provide metaphysical tools for growth and alignment, including sage, fixed candles, custom workings, crystals, wire-wrapped jewelry, and other spiritual essentials. At the heart of everything I do is a simple mission. To help others heal, align, and step fully into their true power.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My father taught me the most about work through his own example. As a pastor, entrepreneur, and property owner, he wore many hats and showed me the importance of balance, dedication, and vision. Watching him lead a congregation while also running several businesses and managing real estate instilled in me a deep respect for perseverance and consistency. He always told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be, but he also made sure I understood that success doesn’t come from looks or shortcuts. It comes from hard work, determination, and integrity. His words shaped the way I approach my own goals and responsibilities.

Beyond my father’s influence, I’m also inspired daily by my close circle of friends. They are intelligent, ambitious, and successful individuals who work tirelessly to reach their dreams. Surrounding myself with people who embody discipline and drive continues to motivate me to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You will learn that pain doesn’t break you, it builds you. You’ll see that the very moments you thought it would destroy you actually gave you the power to heal others. Trust yourself more. Love yourself harder and never forget you are capable of creating the life you dream about.”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
For me, the public version of myself is the real me. I was raised to always be myself, no matter how uncomfortable it may make people feel. That means what people see is not a mask or a performance. It’s a reflection of my true values, my beliefs, and my personality. Of course, there are layers to who I am, and some parts remain private, but I don’t believe in presenting a false version of myself. If anything, the public me is a more focused version of the real me, but it never strays from authenticity.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly feel like I am doing what I was born to do. Since childhood, I’ve carried the gifts of clairvoyance and being an empath. Abilities that allow me to see and feel beyond what others might notice. These gifts naturally guide me in my work with clients. While they share their situations, I can often sense or intuitively understand what they’re experiencing on a deeper level.

Because I’ve always been a good listener and a natural advisor, it never feels like “work.” Supporting people, offering guidance, and helping them heal aligns perfectly with my purpose. Helping others isn’t just something I do. It’s who I am, and it’s my greatest passion.
