Emmy Marshall on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emmy Marshall. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Emmy, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
Chasing my dreams has been both beautiful and challenging — a rhythm of highs and lows that continues to shape me, strengthen me, and remind me why I started.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Emmy Marshall, a self-taught abstract painter based in Atlanta, Georgia. Through my brand PaintedByEmmy, I create work that connects, inspires, and builds community while celebrating the beauty of growth and resilience. My art explores themes of identity, perseverance, and purpose—reflecting my own journey of learning and evolving through both the highs and lows of following my dreams.

What makes my work unique is how it bridges creativity and connection—I see art not just as something to be viewed, but as a catalyst for conversation, healing, and unity. I’m currently developing new projects that focus on sustainability and storytelling through repurposed materials and community participation, continuing my mission to leave a positive mark both on and beyond the canvas.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Disconnection happens when people stop showing up for one another. Bonds are restored through community—through acts of service, empathy, and shared purpose that remind us we’re part of something greater than ourselves.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life has been learning to believe in myself despite doubt—both from others and within. There were seasons when I questioned my worth and whether my voice mattered. Healing came through art. Creating allowed me to process pain, transform it into color, and see beauty in the parts of my story I once tried to hide. Each canvas became a mirror, showing me that growth and purpose can come from brokenness.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is authentic expression. I believe in honoring where you come from, telling your truth through art, and creating without apology. Our stories—especially those rooted in community and resilience—deserve to be seen, celebrated, and preserved in their purest form.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m aligned—when my mind is quiet, my heart is open, and I’m walking in purpose. Whether I’m painting, helping others, or simply sitting in stillness, peace comes when I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
