Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalah Harris.
Hi Kalah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, my greatest passion has been to help and serve others. Specifically to help facilitate healing mentally, spiritually, and physically for anyone who desires a natural treatment course. My wellness practice journey has been unique – and I am humbled to be the one to hold the hands of those searching for a holistic and effective approach to an overall better and healthier life. After graduating from Howard University, I worked in film and television for several years. Much of my work was on Tyler Perry’s productions. More recently, I was honored by the Television Academy for my contribution on the producer’s team for the Emmy Award-winning TV Series HBO’s The Watchmen. It was a remarkable experience working alongside extraordinary people. Though I enjoyed my work in show business, I knew I was destined for something else. So, my ultimate journey began. I decided to continue on my journey to a life of wellness to fulfill my lifelong calling. I’ve always been a person who strives to facilitate healing for others. Throughout the years, I have continued my education in various wellness practices and healing modalities. I am a Reiki-certified healer, as well as a certified yoni steam facilitator and am currently enrolled in a certification course to become a Peristeam Hydrotherapist and Tantra Instructor.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
With every business, you will have your ups and downs but all are learning experiences. For me, I grew very quickly in a short amount of time. So I had to learn ways of keeping up with the demand. At that time, I was working full time in TV / Film had a seven months old, Covid had started up and I was pregnant. So I have definitely learned better time management and the importance of constant communication.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Place Of Kai?
I started Place Of Kai two years ago and we were mainly online helping people with their wellness and spiritual needs. I have always had a connection with people more than I understood and realized that my calling was to heal. I became a certified Reiki Practitioner and received my attunement from an Shaman Rah located in ATL. Our main focus for the Place Of Kai Yoni Steam & Salt Cave is to give people a place to go for healing, wellness, education and relaxation. We consider Place of Kai to be a luxurious healing experience. We provide noise-canceling headphones that play meditation music during every service along with custom robes and slippers for our guests. We offer Yoni and Lingam (for men) steamings, a Salt cave for halotherapy, oxygen bar and Reiki healing. We truely focus on building our community so we have many local vendors two of which also had articles in Voyage, Bank Powder by Sabriya Morris & Sekaya’s Corner Publishing , self publishing company by Sekaya Harris. Place Of Kai has an in-house Doula, Imani Byers, who is also an herbalist and licensed therapist.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am a true believer in taking risks. You have to weigh the options, commit and follow through with the consequences good or bad. It’s always thing to learn. I’ve always taken risks and when I have failed because I have, I found a different way to do things. For me to leave an industry that has financially served me well to pursue my life passion in wellness with two babies, one 16 months and the other ten weeks old is definitely as risk during this time especially with Covid but I know this is my divine life purpose.
