Exploring Life & Business with Angela Pau of Avenly Senior Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Pau.

Hi Angela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into senior living began with my father, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. As a family, we went through several communities trying to find the right fit, but many didn’t provide the level of personalized care we were hoping for. That experience opened my eyes to how deeply personal and emotional this decision is—and it ultimately shaped my path.

Family has always been my passion, and I wanted to create a place where families could feel true peace of mind—knowing their loved one is not just cared for, but genuinely known and valued.

I combined that mission with my background to build Avenly, a boutique senior living experience. Today, everything we do is guided by a simple question: would this be good enough for my own family? That standard continues to drive how we care for our residents and support the families we serve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nope! Like many things worth building, it’s come with real challenges. Renovating and updating the home to meet our vision is a major undertaking and it requires significant time, resources, and attention to detail.

Also, we are always looking for team members who not only have the clinical skill but also the heart to truly care for seniors in the way I would want my dad to be taken care of. That combination is rare, and building the right culture has taken intention and persistence.

But all of these hurdles and more has strengthened us. They’ve pushed us to be more thoughtful, more selective, and more committed to creating something truly special for the families we serve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Avenly Senior Living is a physician-owned assisted living and memory care community focused on delivering highly personalized, high-touch care in a warm, home-like setting. We specialize in caring for seniors who need more than a traditional, institutional environment can offer.

What sets us apart is our boutique approach. With a more intimate setting, we’re able to truly know each resident—their routines, preferences, and what brings them comfort and joy—and tailor care around that. Combined with a physician-led perspective, this allows us to deliver both clinical excellence and a deeply personal experience for residents and their families.

We’re known for our strong caregiver-to-resident ratios and a culture built on compassion and genuine connection. Families often tell us they feel a sense of relief and peace of mind once their loved one is with us—that’s something we never take for granted!

What matters most to you?
Family matters most to me—both my own and the families we serve. That’s really where everything begins.

My experience with my father, especially navigating his Parkinson’s and trying to find the right care for him, made it clear how important it is to have a place you can truly trust. When someone you love is vulnerable, nothing else matters more than knowing they are safe, cared for, and treated with compassion.

That’s why everything we do is centered around people, not just processes. It’s about creating an environment where residents feel at home and families feel peace of mind. At the end of the day, this work isn’t just a business to me—it’s deeply personal, and that’s what continues to drive me every day.
