Today we’d like to introduce you to Babatunde Jegede.
Hi Babatunde, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Babatunde Jegede, I had my first hookah in college and I was really intrigued by it. So I went and bought my own and I began to take it to parties and everybody enjoyed it, so I continued to buy more and brought them to every college party.
As I grew older, I ran into Key, who was just as intrigued in hookah as I was and she eventually convinced me to start my own business. A little after that, I lost my job of seven years, which is what pushed me even more and I ended up making my first business investment on a bulk order of hookahs. This was definitely a big sacrifice, especially after losing my job and my main source of income. I had to take a leap of faith and put my trust in God. I brought Key on as my COO because she was someone I could trust and she knew exactly what I wanted out of this company and where I wanted it to go. TruPulls was born on May 3, 2019, during a panarama. We were truly discouraged at first because we had so many plans that couldn’t go through. However, by the grace of God, we are still standing. TruPulls has a lot in the works for the year of 2020 and 2021. Our goal is to make sure everyone that experiences TruPulls has the best customer experience possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Because we started during a pandemic, we were limited to bookings, we had to change and incorporate new rules for safety which made us have to redo inventory and buy the proper equipment for our customer’s to still be able to enjoy the experience. Due to the jobs closing, that meant money stopped as well. We had to figure things out the best way we knew how.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our business is a Mobile Hookah business. We travel to you whether you need us for a club, a wedding, or just a night with the gang at the house. If you have your own hookah and just want a fruit bowl, we sell those too. Not only do we rent out our hookahs, but every hookah you see in our inventory for bookings, we have them available for purchase as well. We’re pretty much a one-stop Mobile Hookah shop.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Instagram honestly is our favorite app, social media period, because word travels so fast there. Without social media, I don’t think trupulls would even be up and running.
