Today we’d like to introduce you to Dakota Bentley.
Hi Dakota, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I honestly started doing what I do by accident. I worked in offices where teams were underperforming, there was very little structure, and people were expected to work like it was their own business while being paid the bare minimum. I understood why so many people stopped caring, but I could never seem to stop myself. I was spending more time at work than I was at home, and I knew I needed to find purpose in what I was doing.
I started in dental, and it took me a little while to find where I belonged, but once I did, everything changed. I found a team that wanted more. They wanted growth, purpose, and structure, and together that is exactly what we built.
I moved from an admin role into management in less than six months. I wanted people to see that work could be more than just showing up every day and waiting to go home. We could care more, grow more, find a purpose, and make a real difference in the lives of our patients, the people we worked beside, and even ourselves.
I started studying, creating help guides, learning processes deeper than I ever had before, and constantly looking for ways to improve what was already in place, not because it was broken, but because I was always in pursuit of improvement. I listened to the people around me and valued what they had to say. From there, I built trust within the team and created systems that supported them without requiring constant micromanaging.
I never wanted to be the kind of manager who just said, “This is how we are doing it now.” I wanted people to understand why we were doing it, how it would make their work life easier and how it would help them grow internally to reach thier own personal goals.
Real change only happens when people feel included, supported, and connected to a purpose.
Quote: “The only question you because they feel safe enough to do so.”
For me, the easiest purpose to connect people to is helping others and themselves in the process. In every business or organization I work with, I always ask myself, how is what we are doing helping others? I also believe it is important to understand each team member’s personal goals so you can connect their role to something bigger and give them a stronger sense of purpose in what they do.
So many businesses focus only on the customer or patient experience, which is important, but it’s easy to forget about the people behind the scenes who make everything happen. When I finally found the team that helped shape who I am today, I had a mentor who listened to me, valued my feedback, invested in my growth, and supported me without micromanaging. That experience changed everything for me and became a big part of who I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was caring more than the people around me at times. I would walk into environments where people were burned out, underpaid, unsupported, and used to doing the bare minimum because that was the culture around them. When you are someone who naturally wants to fix things, help people, and push for better, that can become exhausting very quickly.
Another struggle was learning that not everyone wants growth, even when they say they do. Real growth comes from a decision, not a feeling. It requires change, accountability, consistency, and discomfort, and not everyone is ready for that. I had to learn that I could provide support, systems, and opportunities, but I could not want it more than they did.
I also struggled for a long time with feeling like I needed to fit into one title, one industry, or one specific path. I felt pressure to choose one thing and stay there, but I eventually realized that my strength is being able to work across different businesses, help in different ways, and bring structure and growth wherever I go through care, consistency, and determination.
The hardest part of the journey has been learning how to care deeply without carrying the weight of everything on my shoulders. I have had to learn that not everyone wants to grow, and that is okay, but at the very least, the role and responsibilities still need to be completed. Owners have to provide their teams with the right tools, systems, and support to make that possible. Not everyone will have the same drive, passion, or vision, but strong systems can help people succeed even when they do not naturally have that motivation on their own.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about DCG Advantage?
I am a Profitability & Performance Strategist, primarily in healthcare. My business focuses on helping companies create structure, improve operations, strengthen team performance, and build systems that allow them to grow without everything depending on the owner.
I specialize in identifying the gaps that keep businesses stuck, whether that is inconsistent training, weak onboarding, poor communication, lack of accountability, turnover, or operations that only work when the owner is heavily involved. I help businesses create systems that make performance more predictable, teams confident, and growth sustainable.
What sets me apart is that I do not believe in quick fixes or surface-level solutions. I take the time to understand the people behind the business, the goals of the owner, the strengths of the team, and the patterns that are creating problems. From there, I create systems that support both the business and the people within it.
The thing I am most proud of is helping businesses go from chaos to consistency. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a team become stronger, seeing owners feel less overwhelmed, and seeing a business finally operate the way it was always meant to. I want people to know that growth does not have to feel chaotic. With the right structure, systems, and support, businesses can grow in a way that feels sustainable, profitable, and fulfilling.
How do you define success?
I define success as building something meaningful without sacrificing peace. For a long time, I believed success meant constantly doing more, achieving more, and pushing harder. Over time, I learned that success is not just measured by growth, money, or titles.
To me, success is creating a life and business that allows you to help people, create a lasting impact, protect your peace, maintain your freedom, and still enjoy the life you are building along the way. It is being able to step back and know that what you created can continue to grow without everything depending entirely on you.
I also measure success by the people around me. If the people I work with are growing, feel supported, and are becoming better both personally and professionally because of something I helped build, that is success to me.
