My name is Joseph Nelson, Founder and CEO of A1 Realty Group. I am a natural-born leader, a devoted husband, and a proud father of three boys. Those roles have shaped my values and continue to influence the way I lead my business—with integrity, accountability, and a genuine passion for helping others.
Originally from Ghana, West Africa, I moved to Atlanta at the age of 18 in pursuit of greater opportunities and a better future. Like many immigrants, I arrived with big dreams and a strong work ethic, determined to build a successful life through perseverance and dedication. I worked for several major airlines before becoming an Inventory Control Specialist for a distribution company, where I developed the discipline, attention to detail, and customer service skills that would later become the foundation of my real estate career.
My real estate journey truly began in 2012 when I purchased my first property. That experience sparked a passion for real estate and opened my eyes to the opportunities it creates for building wealth and financial security. As I learned more about the industry, I naturally became the go-to person for my family and friends whenever they had questions about buying, selling, renting, or investing in real estate. Helping others make informed decisions became something I genuinely enjoyed, and it inspired me to pursue a career in real estate.
As my knowledge and experience grew, I earned my real estate license and later my Associate Broker’s license while working with one of the largest real estate brokerages in Georgia. During that time, I became someone my colleagues regularly turned to for guidance, support, and problem-solving. I took pride in mentoring and training new agents, always making myself available to help them build their confidence and succeed. Through hard work, consistency, and a commitment to exceptional service, I developed a reputation for being knowledgeable, dependable, and solutions-oriented.
My passion for leadership, mentorship, and client service ultimately inspired me to launch A1 Realty Group, a boutique brokerage built on integrity, collaboration, personalized service, and a commitment to excellence. Today, my team proudly serves buyers, sellers, investors, landlords, and tenants throughout Georgia and beyond.
Over the past decade, my team and I have successfully closed more than $100 million in real estate transactions. While I’m proud of that achievement, what means the most to me is the trust my clients place in me and the opportunity to help families build wealth through real estate.
For me, real estate is about more than buying and selling properties—it’s about creating opportunities, building generational wealth, strengthening communities, and helping others achieve the American dream, just as I have been blessed to do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like any business, there have been challenges along the way. I’ve had to navigate changing market conditions, support buyers, sellers, and investors through different phases of the market, while also training agents and balancing the needs of both property owners and residents. There were also times when I had to make tough decisions and learn valuable lessons through experience rather than theory.
Those challenges have ultimately made me stronger, more knowledgeable, and more effective as a problem solver. Every obstacle reinforced the importance of clear communication, professionalism, and staying focused on solutions rather than setbacks.
Looking back, those experiences have been some of my greatest teachers. They have shaped not only how I run my business, but also how I serve my clients—with patience, preparation, and a commitment to doing what is right, even when it’s not easy.

My family is my foundation. Being a husband and a father of three boys gives everything I do deeper meaning and purpose. They motivate me to work hard, lead by example, and create a legacy that shows them what is possible through discipline, faith, and perseverance.
Integrity is equally important to me. In real estate, people are making some of the biggest financial and life decisions of their lives. I believe they deserve honesty, transparency, and guidance they can trust. My reputation has been built on doing the right thing, even when it’s not the easiest option, and that is something I take seriously in every transaction and relationship.
Finally, my faith keeps me grounded and focused. It reminds me that success is not just measured by numbers, but by impact—how many lives you positively influence along the way.
