Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Paige.
Hi Karen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began over 20 years ago after the birth of my firstborn son. During this time in my life, I was young and trying to figure out where I belonged in this world. While on the journey of discovering myself, I discovered that I first had to love myself before I could even think of loving and helping others.
I’ve received many gifts along this journey of life. However, one of my first gifts was the blessing of a Nurse who supported me in understanding that self-care and self-love were imperative to creating the peace of mind and spiritual growth I needed to help me care for my special needs baby. Nurse Ann SAW me and showed me that I mattered and I must see and acknowledge it to move forward on this journey of new beginnings. My new beginning was to complete my undergraduate and graduate degrees to become a Board Certified Adult – Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNPBC).
Fast forward to 2019 when the world was introduced to the one thing that continues to plague us to this day: COVID-19. This pandemic ROCKED the healthcare world and medical staff.
I quickly realized that there was something missing in nursing. The number of deaths that we witnessed on a DAILY basis … one after the other … was taking a toll on the staff and no one knew what to do with those feelings.
My purpose became evident in this era. I moved quickly to let the staff know that I saw them and their needs and I became their SAFE SPACE. I moved through the hallways giving hugs (yes hugs) wiping tears, having conversations and even inviting nurses and other staff to my office for a Zen N Ten moment of soft music, dimmed lights and aroma therapy. This was the one place that the staff could be free to cry and decompress without the worry of being shamed or just moving without feeling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been said that the rockiest roads lead to the highest peaks. My road has been filled with many obstacles and challenges along the way. Sometimes obstacles and challenges are brought on by catalysts which push your purpose. My catalyst was holding my firstborn son in my arms as he took his last breath at five months old. Although my son was a catalyst, had I not met Nurse Ann, this catalyst would have become an obstacle.
People meet challenges in every walk of life and it is how we face these challenges that encompasses our power. Balancing family life, financial issues, self-doubt, and negative talk all these things can rock your foundation and make the road rough. Build your support system with people who can make the rough places smooth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Paige Enterprizes LLC is a business that encompasses the removal of the masks and pulling back the layers of life that we all wear every day.
Paige Enterprizes LLC is unique simply because it has Karen Paige NP as the CEO. Being a nurse who has been on every end of this nursing spectrum allows me to have the viewpoints and expertise of all parties involved. Not only do I understand the bedside nurse and the provider but I had the honor of being the caretaker of a very ill little boy. The greatest asset to this company is Me. I am Karen Paige NP and CEO of Paige Enterprizes and when a person comes to my company, they get me.
The aspect of Paige Enterprizes LLC that I am most proud of in my brand is the fact that I am an effective conduit of calm, peace and clarity which is shown through my writings. “On a Personal Note 30-Day Inspirational Journal for Nurses” was written by me to give nurses the opportunity to reflect and journal while gaining clarity and calm. Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up though I was a shy and quiet child. I enjoyed reading, playing with barbie and teaching school to my younger nieces and nephews.
