Exploring Life & Business with Nancy Taylor of Tailored&Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Taylor.

Hi Nancy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Nancy Taylor and by day, I’m an Interior Designer working to transform spaces and have my clients fall in love with their homes all over again. In that same day I am a mother to four amazing children who keep me striving for success. I was born and raised in the Bronx. I knew early on that I wanted to be in the design field because while everyone else tuned in to their favorite Disney Channel show, I was glued to HGTV watching shows like “Trading Spaces”. I was also that friend that gave unsolicited suggestions on how your room would POP if you added this art work on this wall or that type of chair in that particular corner. My passion for unique spaces drives me to be the best designer I can possibly be. I pride myself on my attention to detail and make sure every experience is one to remember for my clients. In 2018 I relocated to Georgia with my family and was eager to pursue my dreams in interior design. Upon arriving, I knew the best way to kick start that dream was by first-hand experience. So I reached out to many local designers looking for an internship. After a few searches, I was able secure an internship for a small design firm where I was able to perfect my craft.

During this time, I knew this was truly my passion because the jobs didn’t have much financial gain. I would work tirelessly just to ensure an unforgettable reaction from the clients. and ultimately to deliver great work. After two years I felt I was finally ready to step out on my own. However, it was that little voice we all have saying. ‘ just wait a little while longer”. With GOD and a little push from my tribe, I was able to step out on faith and officially launch Tailored&Co. Since then it has been a whirlwind! Never did I imagine business would take off the way it has. We have gotten an overwhelming amount of support from clients all over Georgia and even some virtually in other states. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My greatest obstacle was definitely me overcoming the fear of stepping out on my own. Diving deep into your dreams is rarely smooth sailing and it was many times I almost talked myself out of it. Not to mention I was starting a business during a pandemic! Covid-19 made it extremely difficult to forecast how well my business would take off during these uncertain times. Being that my primary job is being in someone’s home, I take extra precautions to ensure the safety of my team and clients. I’ve been blessed that even in uncertain situations, I have always found the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been extremely fortunate to have a great support system and to have met so many amazing individuals along the way. While my journey has been far from easy, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our mission at Tailored&Co is to create interiors that are timeless, sophisticated and functional. We pride ourselves in attention to detail to make sure every experience is one to remember. We also operate with transparency and fairness which we feel is critical to a healthy relationship with our clients. We want to be sure no matter how big or small the project, that we deliver the same exceptional quality. A key component that we feel is important to our success is the unmatched attention to our client’s wants and needs. It is my job to pick up on the smallest details and deliver something the client didn’t even know they needed. My team and I truly love the reactions of our clients after we transform their space into something that unique, functional, and a whole lot of pizzazz!

What are your plans for the future?
Looking to the future, I see Tailored&Co branching off into different areas like event coordination. I believe this is a natural progression being that a key component is bringing your client’s vision to life. I would love to travel the world and not only turn houses into homes, but also give people events to remember.
