Exploring Life & Business with Nelle – The Empress Lloyd of Alkhemized Jheanetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelle – The Empress Lloyd.

Hi Nelle – The Empress, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey with herbalism didn’t start with a book but with a memory where the indigenous understanding of our well-being is still tied directly to the earth. I remember as a child always being shoved a big cup of cerasse tea from my Nana Monica to take the weekly serving of bitters along with other tonics. Even when my Nana and the small circle of her church sisters who brewed a medicinal bush bath to soothe my skin when I had chicken pox. As a teenager, living in the rural countryside without an urgent care or hospital within a 30-mile radius wasn’t an obstacle; it was an education. My parents Karen and Elias, who taught me exactly which herbs to harvest for which illnesses such as lemongrass for breaking fevers.

On the country side of Southfield, Jamaica, my dad also taught me and my brother how to care for animals for self sustainability such as chickens starting from chicks, calves to cows, and kids to goats for food and etc. I was also shown other skills on how to grow my own food using different methods, and to live off the land successfully as we did in my younger years. My mother is the catalyst for the concept of what Alkhemized Jheanetics is growing to become and through my work I built off her knowledge and passion to bring what she dreamed about to fruition. I thank her for her guidance daily and the foundation she has built for me. I only hope to continue the work making her proud as I carry this lineage in her honor within my heart, this is for Karen.

Now I carry all my ancestors before me forward through my business, Alkhemized Jheanetics (FKA Loc’d on Love Botanicals). I am called by showing my gift of blending the mystical science of alchemy with the deep-rooted power of lineage and rememberance. Our ancestors left us a blueprint for healing; at Alkhemized Jheanetics, we provide the ink. “Alchemy isn’t just about turning lead into gold—it’s about turning raw nature into potent vitality. Our products don’t just smell, taste and feel good—they are designed to “re-code” and align the spirit using ancient indigenous wisdom.

As a practitioner of Afrocentric Indigenous wellness, I believe that medicine should do more than just “fix” a symptom; it should honor the ancestors and reclaim our sovereignty over our own health. Modern society focuses on masking symptoms, but my mission is to target the root rot within us, using sacred earth medicine to guide people back to sovereign wellness. I am the bridge, I am the altar, I am the medicine.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my obstacles in the beginning of my journey was caring too much about what others thought of me, a big people pleaser.

I found myself falling into the trends trying to keep up with my fellow peers only to realize I am here to help those who seek the offerings I provide. I am truly blessed to have people in my life who pushes me to get out of my comfort zone from my loved ones such as my children Esong and Ki’Mora who always inspire me, my partner who motivates me while always holding my hand, and my close friends and family who never ceases to support me.

From a business perspective my struggles to finding genuine people to collaborate with in the spiritual community which has become over saturated with those who may have started off with good intentions but has now evolved into who has the most followers or how to go viral, in the process many has forgotten the medicine to help those who seek guidance and healing.

Another obstacle I faced was a fear of my family not understanding me and the path that chose me. Not being treated with the same love before I left religion and found my own way to the Creator. With me starting from the beginning of what religion truly was I found myself having a deeper connection with the Almighty. Explaining this to some family members became awkward with weird sighs, looks, and ignorance due to their own misunderstanding. Once I broke free from people pleasing and focused more on my own spiritual contentment I have not looked back. I am grateful for the lessons and the road I’ve traveled to get here.

Funding is another one I’ll add to the list of obstacles where I envisioned opening a healing center but I know with time everything will fall in place at the right time, I am always grateful, Asè.
