Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Echols.
Tonya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since we last connected, my journey continues to evolve! With over 25 years of professional experience, it amazes me how much growth continues to be possible in my life. The evolution of my career started out in accounting/finance in what was then called the Big 6 (now the Big 4) and then moving into the world of traditional and digital media for the bulk of my career provided me with experiences that I helped mold me into the leader I am today. Now as Managing Principal of Vigere, an executive coaching and leadership consulting organization, I truly feel I am on the ultimate path I am meant to walk personally and professionally. I have crystallized the focus of the work I do to supporting others in their journeys to be impactful, human-centric, and purposeful leaders.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What seemed like struggles at the time I now recognize as the natural growing pains of building a business and stepping out of my comfort zone. Uncertainties about my focus, branding, and developing my networks and client base at times felt incredibly challenging. However, that discomfort required me to focus on what was truly important for me and in alignment with my purpose and passion. I had to walk my own talk as they say and figure out how I wanted to impact the world through the work that I do and how I engage with others.

VIGERE provides executive coaching and leadership consulting services for individuals and organizations that are ready to become impactful, innovative leaders and reaches optimal performance levels.
Leveraging my diverse professional background to connect with her clients by drawing on her own real-world experience of successfully leading large teams and addressing a variety of management challenges. I help my clients move forward to find actionable solutions that will allow them to accomplish their goals and become impactful, transformational leaders. My unique background, experience, and perspective allow me to create powerful partnerships with leaders across various industries internationally, especially with my commitment to supporting leaders and organizations in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and overall intercultural competencies to create a more inclusive world.
Any big plans?
I look forward to continuing my work on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives to build more inclusive work environments. I want to help change mindsets and raise awareness about the need for a more fair and inclusive world and the benefit unity brings to humanity as a whole.
Additionally, I am embarking on a new stage in my academic journey by beginning my doctoral studies in Leadership Psychology this year. I look forward to expanding the work I do in the field of leadership and organizational development with the knowledge and experiences I gain from this new endeavor of study.
