Exploring Life & Business with Trinity Francis of Kayori Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Francis.

Trinity, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Both of my parents were entrepreneurs for the majority of my life. So, I was always fascinated by the thought of having my own business. My dad taught me how to burn CDs, edit in iMovie, and play around with different equipment from a very young age. I loved making videos and taking photos. Eventually, I received my first camera when I was 13.

This grew my interest in creating content. But, at the time there was no such thing as making a living from social media or social media marketing. I knew I had an interest but I didn’t know how it would translate into a degree when it was time to go to college. I spent the rest of high school doing internships in marketing and received acceptance to Kennesaw State in Fall 2019 with a major in Business Management.

I was fortunate enough to have the marketing department reach out to be a part of a program that allowed a small group of us to create content for the admissions social media. I think this was the only part of college I was interested in before I decided to leave. My mother was very apprehensive since she grew up in a very studious household where the plan was always to go to school and excel. I decided to leave college completely after many attempts to sit in classes that just weren’t sparking my interest.

I worked at a boutique that aligned with the values that I wanted for my career. It pushed me to want more for myself and to work harder to reach that end goal. Eventually, I worked my way up and took the social media manager position from a friend who worked in the position previously. I never worked in this position before and I was super nervous since this boutique has had success in the south. I learned so much from taking that position and I craved more. I decided to try one more internship geared towards marketing with Atlanta First Agency. They are a temporary staffing agency for wholesale apparel trade shows. Upon accepting the internship, I was met with some of the most inspiring women that were hungry for the same things I was.

My mentor Ali walked me through her career journey and passed down advice from her mentors and she lit a fire inside of me that I had never felt before. I knew I needed to start going after what I wanted. AFA allowed me to attend a trade show in Florida in February 2021, and this trip changed my life. I met so many amazing people and created (at the time) some of my best work. I returned to Georgia and decided to leave my position at the boutique as I felt my creativity was refined and I knew there was more for me out there. Shortly after, I decided to go freelance with a little experience under my belt, one of the largest risks you can take. I received a call offering me the position of marketing director at AFA, and this was the further confirmation I was going in the right direction.

I worked hard and long to build up my portfolio and find my style. I started receiving clients a few months in and things have been crazy ever since. I have completely sacrificed having a college experience and doing things someone in their 20s would do to build an entire agency that has the chance of being successful. I registered my business in January 2022 and started taking on work I never thought I would be receiving so soon.

At the moment, I am still at my position with Atlanta First Agency whilst balancing my clients and getting outsourced by two agencies. Recently, I received the opportunity of working with gusto! And assist them with their social media. I am thrilled to work alongside some amazing people at such a young age. I hope to start hiring this year and expanding Kayori Studios to be a brand with not only services but products.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have experienced many struggles throughout my journey. I struggle a lot with perfectionism and the tendency to overwork myself. Being a young entrepreneur and the youngest individual in most companies I work for, it can be intimidating. I am constantly trying to prove myself and prove I deserve to be sitting next to 35-55 years old that have gone to school and have been in the industry for many years.

Almost every entrepreneur experiences the “Imposter Syndrome”, and learning how to reverse that belief system is a different struggle. Especially when you seek verbal validation from others around you. I am still learning every day how to take my emotions out of my work. Just because a client doesn’t like the graphics I’ve created for the week doesn’t mean they think I’m a horrible person or incapable of doing my job. It sounds silly but it’s easier said than done.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kayori Studios is a Bespoke Social Media Marketing Agency based in Atlanta, Georgia. We specialize in social media strategy, management, and content creation for small brands in the apparel, beauty, and lifestyle industry.

Although we specialize in social media management, we offer a variety of add-on services such as; branding, influencer marketing & management, and website design. The latter months of 2021 allowed us to expand and work with different brands. Currently, we have added realty and small restaurant brands to our client’s list.

I think what sets us apart from others is the ability to add our special sauce to a brand’s image & voice. Our content creation has the ability to take a brand’s presence to the next level (specifically video).

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family and my passion. My parents are the reason I have the knowledge of running my own business and an entrepreneurial mindset instilled in me from a young age. My mother is the epitome of a hard worker and she has always set a great example of what a businesswoman should be.

Next, I believe my passion for what I do matters a ton. My dream has always been to have a career that didn’t feel like a job. The second I lose my passion, my work will not be the same. I wake up every day and I am so excited to work and I never want that to change and lose that hunger.
