Germaine and Shyriah, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
We are Germaine and Shyriah, also known as The New Kids. We are content creators, podcasters, and consultants based in Detroit, MI
Can you talk to us about how you plan to help other entrepreneurs in Detroit?
With our podcast, we focus on up and coming entrepreneurs around the city of Detroit. We want to highlight their journey, their challenges, and give them a voice to reach a broader audience and grow their brand.
What is one thing you plan to do differently this year?
We definitely want to expand our content portfolio, and find new ways to engage our audience.
If you could change one thing about your journey, what would it be?
I don’t think there’d be any point in our journey we’d change. There were some bumps but I think each experience caused us to learn, grow and move forward.
How have you stayed consistent with content during the pandemic?
It’s been rough, honestly. We’ve definitely experienced burnout, frustration and creators block. But, this is something we really enjoy doing so we try to keep in tune with our audience about what they want to see and how we can share it.
Do you ever get tired of producing content or recording?
I think what sometimes hinders us is the thought of it, once we start, it becomes more fun and less work.
Are there any partnerships you are looking forward to this year?
We’re definitely excited about the VoyageATL content creators program, as all as the guests on our show for this season, and new partnerships with brands.
