Hidden Gems: Meet Alechia Reese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alechia Reese.

Hi Alechia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My path has not been easy, but so very worth it. I learned trusting myself and operating in excellence will always provide a place for me exactly where I’m supposed to be. My mother decided in August of 1985 that she would have a baby on May 16, 1986. I was born on May 16, 1986, and brought home to a shack with rats crawling around my head. I was raised on 32nd Street in Sarasota, FL, where we lived next to the neighborhood drug dealer and every time the cops would raid his place, they’d throw their drug paraphernalia in our yard. In spite of these challenges, my mother had the foresight to barter cleaning services in exchange for our private school education.

She required we learn how to create what we need by teaching us to fundraise our registration every year walking around St. Arnold’s Circle in Sarasota. I hated every moment of it, however, those experiences laid the foundation for every move I’ve made in business. Without knowing it, she taught me growth isn’t possible without investment and “not having it” would never be an excuse I can settle for because we are a family of creators. It created a sense of resilience that continues to carry through the transitions of life. From periods of no running water or electricity and bouts of situational homelessness to building multiple lucrative brands, speaking all over the globe, and living a life I love — every moment has helped me to create a path of healing and growth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My greatest struggle has truly been learning how to identify what I need and want. Getting clear on the type of life I want to live, and developing the belief and supportive actions through the choices I make that definitively state I’m deserving of what I say I want. Admittedly, it took way longer than I ever imagined. Figuring it out while allowing myself to evolve as well, took me from a domestic violence victim to a thriver building multiple lucrative brands and finding peace and joy I never thought imaginable.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about RGLP Group with a Leadership Community called Got Value Nation?
I’m equal parts warm tea and Hennessy. My purpose is fulfilled by operating as a transformation coach, international speaker, and host. I’ve authored three books and working on my fourth. I’ve worked with and spoken for a myriad of organizations and leaders from the entertainment stage to the corporate boardroom with clients like Zendaya Coleman and Soledad O’Brien and brands like UPS, Verizon, Bank of America, Essence, Buzzfeed, and more.

As the principal of an executive leadership learning and development firm, I show executives and marginalized emerging leaders how to leverage their personal and professional values to increase impact and decrease burnout. My strategies guide leaders in building strong and strategic professional relationships that lead to upwardly mobile careers, expansive businesses, and lives that not only look good but feel good too. Being a professional success, but a personal mess is no way to live. Through my podcasts, Triggered AF (http://apple.co/2M79Od7) and Got Value Nation (https://apple.co/3oRKicU), I provide practical tools, resources, and strategies for the masses to work through traumas and triggers to heal, cope, and thrive.

In under two years, along with my co-host, Dani Foster, my podcasts have been downloaded in over 20 countries over 30,000 times. I’ve interviewed Grammy-award winners, multi-million dollar-making entrepreneurs, high-powered executives, and powerful influencers. I’ve also led live interviews with artists like H.E.R., Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Lionel Richie, Brandy, and more.

I’m most proud of my willingness to take risks and pivot. It is my belief that risks are simply opportunities in disguise. And the failures that require you to pivot are merely redirects showing you a higher, more aligned path.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck per say. However, I believe wholeheartedly in energy. Every energy has a frequency and the more you tune into that frequency the more of it you experience. You cannot change what happens to you. That is more evident than ever. However, we can create our own “luck” by tapping the frequency of what we desire to have, and then use intentional actions to support our beliefs. You can use your actions and energy to create a life that works for you. I leverage my ability to work with energy and frequencies in both life and business — it makes all the difference.
