Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Jones.
Hi Brandi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Since high school, I have been interested in skincare. I used to struggle with acne and recurring breakouts over the years due to me being on birth control (depo-PROVERA), not being educated about having a proper skin care routine growing up and of course other struggles.
It was the year of 2017 when my face broke out around my mouth which started as a rash. I went to see my local dermatologist for a diagnosis. He stated that it was “perioral dermatitis” and prescribe me RX to assist with the PD.
The PD cleared for about 3 weeks, but returned with a vengeance (ACNE), cystic acne. I went back to visit my dermatologist and he had given me a few different recommendations, but the PD got worst.
I then went on to make an appointment with a different Dr. to get a different opinion, diagnosis. The 2nd Dr diagnosed it as PD as well and prescribe the same RX as my previous Dr. (no help at all).
The PD would clear for a week or two and return. This last time around, I went to see another Dr. (3rd derm) that came highly recommended by a friend and she was more concerned than I was.
She had given me a RX that actually assisted with drying up my PD and Cystic Acne.
I was left with hideous dark spots, acne scarring, from picking my acne.
So, I set out to find my own remedies, skin care SOLUTIONS to assist with getting my skin back on track (this was a process that took several months, to a little over a year).
I had to find out what actually worked for ME.
From researching on Google, YouTube, Pinterest and social media every day and night trying to make my own concoctions, remedies (a few assisted , but most of them made my skin worst)… I stumbled upon my very first product, my SKIN EXFOLIATOR OIL aka chemical peel that you apply yourself to assist with exfoliating acne scars, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, etc to reveal the clear, healthy skin that lies underneath.
I used the product on myself a few times, kept track of my results and posted them on Snapchat. My followers went crazy! They could not believe it!!! They were SOLD. My dark spots had diminished within a short period of time.
The people were asking me to “put them on” and that’s how it all got started.
In 2019, I birthed my brand, which was called “Brandi’s Beauty” when I first decided to tell the world about my amazing product…
2 months later, I discovered 2 more products; my Glow Girl Cleansing Bar and Facial Moisturizer.
Now here we are, 2021 as THE BRANDI GLOW LLC, changing lives one glowgetter at a time, boosting confidence, self-esteem with 10+ products to offer to men, women, teenagers around the world.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am a small business owner. I launched my website during the beginning of a PANDEMIC… of course I struggled.
It was very difficult to get my products, shipments in on time due to delays with CBP- US Customs & Border Protection.
I have had quite a few losses in 2020 due to changes because of COVID-19.
BUT GOD!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Brandi Glow LLC?
I am a black owned skin care brand, female entrepreneur alongside my teenage daughter (black girl’s rock).
I produce and make some of my products myself (handmade) with love.
Quality over quantity! You cannot find my products in your local drugstore, Walmart, ULTA, Sephora.
I am the face, walking billboard of my brand.
You can only catch this glow @TBG.
Skin That Speaks!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was having cookouts every weekend in my neighborhood (Mayville). Playing, eating bbq, dancing, riding bikes, going to the recreation centers, eating free lunch and hanging out with my family.
