Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Walker-Griner.
Hi Chelsea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I must say that my journey here has been humbling and exciting. I have always held a high significance in a career that allowed me to be happy, learn, and provide some joy to others through service. Initially, the field of education provided that for me, and fortunately, it still does. However, there were many times during my teen and early adult years that I was attracted to organizing events for everything from my junior prom at a nearby country club to my sister’s bridal shower, and so on. Even after becoming a Bill Gates Millennium Scholar, while I was focused on obtaining my degrees leading to my doctorate, I was always compelled to plan events and choose every detail I could that would bring a smile or a quick feeling of surprise to guests.
I would continue to do this as I worked positions as a hospitality manager, tech support specialist, and educator. It was not until after my own wedding in 2018 that I decided to take on the opportunity to create my own event planning business, now known as Chelsea Event Group. There have definitely been some lessons learned, but I think I have gained so much more in becoming an entrepreneur and leaving another comfort zone that I had stayed in for so long. Each client brings on their own unique value, and I can see the progress in my etiquette and execution with every wedding, shower, and stationery design that is presented to me. In this industry, the product is you; you have to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk. I pride myself in providing that to clients and treating their needs as if they are mine because in many ways, that’s true.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For me, I think that my road has been smooth because that’s been my perspective. Only I can determine what holds me back and prevents me from continuing to build my business. I have definitely experienced difficulty with the pandemic and rebooting, but there is always a life-changing event to celebrate, and that’s the beauty of event planning. My relationship with God has strengthened since I began, but that truly is the icing on the (wedding/birthday/shower) cake!

In addition, we supervise the logistics, manage the budget, and make sure the atmosphere is stress-free. We are fully devoted to you and your event, with every intention to go beyond expectations. Our mission is to ensure that every client and their event is executed seamlessly. Every event under our company will be designed based on your budget, guests, location, and style. We strive to give each event its own flair and have each guest leave with a joyful memory.
