Today we’d like to introduce you to Daysha Reed.
Hi Daysha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in 2020 during the height of COVID I had just graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology from Sonoma State University. Im originally from Sacramento, California and lived in California my whole life. After graduating, I was trying to figure out whats next for me, I moved back home and quickly realized that nothing had changed and there was a lack of motivation and inspiration within my city. My cousins ended up encouraging me to move to Atlanta with them, one was a music artist. another a hairstylist and I was a makeup artist at the time So we were going to be a Dream Team essentially. But I had never been to ATL before, so for my birthday on July 31st I traveled to ATL solo to do be a vendor in a pop-up event. At the time I had a lash and body-care business that I started in college called Lashedbydaisyy Cosmetics. (Side bar- my nickname is Daisy and I go by my nickname primarily) That trip to ATL changed everything for me, to see so many black people everywhere, black successful business owners and the support was unreal. During that popup so many people supported and purchased from my business, and even was like “keep the change” when I forgot to bring change with me to the event. Which was a totally different environment and level of support compared to back home. So that trip solidified my motivation to move and I spent a few months preparing to do so.
I ended up moving across the US in October 202 on a hope and a prayer, all by myself, at 21. Unfortunately my cousins did not end up moving at that time.. I ran my business for a few months, then closed it down, which I planned to be temporary, as I navigated a new city alone. Fast forward to last year, I still had not started my business back up again and wanted to switch it up. My first business was was built on the idea of self care, and pouring into yourself whether it was mentally, physically, or spiritually. I wanted to provide a product that catered to woman and them treating themselves as a form of luxury,. Which at first was provided through the lashes and body care products (body butters, oils, hand creams, bath salts,). But this time I wanted to tap into mental and spiritual wellness and self-care, mostly because making body products was a lot of work at the time.
I love to journal it was huge part of my journey into self love, learning myself and growing as an individual. So I created Growing Daisies LLC, my nickname is Daisy and growing as an individual is a core value of mine. I initially decided on digital products like journals, planners, and workbooks that focused on growth as an individual, catering specifically to woman. But I personally a paper to pencil type of person and love physical products, so I learned how create my own journals from scratch, im talking about binding, making my own hard covers, designing and printing my own pages. That was a huge learning curve and required a lot of trial and error just like any business. It was a labor of love and after my first set of Sermon journals I created, I realized this was going to be more than I anticipated.
I wanted to pivot again and find another way to create journals, without the hours of printing and wasting materials. But still find a way that allows me to be creative and make the journals personable. Thats when I took a trip to Arizona for a friends birthday and we went to a hat bar, they customized their own baseball caps/cowboy hats with patches, ribbon, pins and charms. After that trip it clicked for me, I could do the same thing with the journals. I could provide blank journals, and allow my customers to customize their own with patches, stickers, and charms. Thats when Growing Daisies truly blossomed into the business it is today. A traveling custom journal station, where you can customize your own journals in person to your liking.. My business slogan is “Plant your intentions, Water your thoughts, and Grow with purpose”. My mission is for you to plant your intentions on paper, water your thoughts and mind, and grow purposefully. And it starts with customizing your own journals with me!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to get Growing Daisies to where its at was not smooth and required willingness to pivot when needed. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. When I officially started this business May 2025, my biggest learning opportunities were during pop-up events. Since Growing Daisies is an interactive and hands-on experience it requires customers to have time and patience when searching through the hundreds of stickers, patches and charms I offer. So finding events that is slow paced, has my target audience and aligns with my business values is a struggle. Especially with ATL always having so many festivals, pop-ups and workshops to choose from. But it has been an amazing journey these past 2 months and Im finding my way. Also, having a mindset of “What can I learn from this experience?” Has been motivating me through the learning curves and helping me grow as a business owner, instead of being discouraged.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
So Growing Daisies is basically a custom journal station, its a hands-0n experience that allows you to customize your own journals in a 5 step process:

We also offer private event services (parties, birthday, corporate events, pop-ups, workshops) and custom bulk orders.
My business sets us apart from others because I truly have not seen anything like it before, its original and the first of its kind. I always get customers that say they never seen this before and love the intentionally behind my business. We are allowing people to create their own journals and be intentional about the process, making it truly their own.
I am so proud of the amount of journals Ive been able to assist and witness being created. I love being apart of someones journey to journaling, growth and self love, Ive seen people make their own personal journals, journals to God and even work journals So knowing that I am apart of their first step is truly fullfilling and motivational.
