Hidden Gems: Meet Emma Kimball of Emma Kimball Counseling, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Kimball.

Hi Emma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started out my mental health career in a children’s hospital working with parents of children with life threatening illnesses. Throughout that journey, I realized how much I loved getting to help people learn to cope and survive against the most unthinkable circumstances and knew I needed to make a career of it. From there, my passion for this business grew and my private therapy practice began in 2022. It took a lot of learning (thanks to all of my mentors, friends and family) to get the business side together, but now I get to sit with incredible women every day and help them navigate the most complex issues in their lives. I could not be more thankful for the role I get to play.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a therapist I fully subscribe to the idea that our mistakes are our greatest strengths and most teachable moments. Whether or not our choices end in good or bad ways, we will always learn something from it that guides our future selves, which is a beautiful thing. I’ve probably made too many mistakes to count, which has guided all of the ways I run my business and interact with my clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of Emma Kimball Counseling, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am an Atlanta based psychotherapist and owner of Emma Kimball Counseling, a mental health therapy practice based in Inman Park Atlanta. I specialize in working with women with anxious behavior patterns, interpersonal/relationship concerns and overall mental wellness. Because of my history of working in a hospital setting, I have kind of ended up specializing in working with healthcare professionals, which I find so rewarding. I’m really proud to get to support the “helpers” to live their most fulfilling lives. I believe each person deserves to feel confident, fulfilled and happy and I am so honored to get to help my clients find just that.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is a vital part of life in my opinion. I ask my clients all the time, “what important parts of your life didn’t involve any risk?”. Risk is required to build our most fulfilling lives and to help us learn. If you’ve ever been in a relationship, gone on a trip, went away to college, started a new job, even left your house, you’ve assumed some risk. Vulnerability and risk is how we build connections and live meaningful lives, so, yea, I’m a big encourager of thoughtful risk. To me, going off on my own and starting this business was a huge risk, and the most risk-averse people in my life told me not to, but I haven’t regretted this for a second because I get to spend my days doing something I love.
