My story is one of faith, family, and resilience. I am a Venezuelan immigrant who has called the United States home for 13 years. After living in Florida, my husband and I decided to move to Georgia shortly after our first son was born, seeking a better future.

Buxus Cleaning Services was born in 2019 out of a deep necessity. After experiencing significant financial challenges as a new mother, I realized I needed to create a business that allowed me to provide for my family without sacrificing the precious time needed to raise my children. I wanted to build a foundation that would eventually allow us to welcome our daughter into a stable and prosperous environment.

The name ‘Buxus’ holds a very special meaning for me. It is the scientific name for the Boxwood tree, mentioned in the Bible (Isaiah 60). I was inspired by the fact that the Boxwood is an ‘evergreen’—it stays green and vibrant regardless of the harsh winter conditions. For me, Buxus is a constant reminder of God’s providence; a promise that no matter the circumstances, we can remain standing and flourish.

Since our inception, we have seen that promise come to life. We have grown from a small family idea into a professional operation specializing in commercial cleaning, post-construction projects, and partnerships with property management companies across Atlanta and its surroundings. Today, our vision is to continue expanding into renovations and construction, with the ultimate goal of creating jobs and supporting other families in our community. We are still growing, and we are grateful for every door that has opened along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but the challenges have been my greatest teachers. As an immigrant, one of the biggest initial hurdles was navigating a new business landscape—learning the legalities, insurance requirements, and building a network from scratch while raising two young children.
In the early days, balancing the demands of motherhood with the physical and administrative workload of a startup was exhausting. There were moments of financial uncertainty that tested my faith, but those were exactly the moments that pushed me to innovate and improve our services.
Moving from residential cleaning to large-scale commercial contracts and post-construction projects also brought a steep learning curve. Managing tight deadlines in the construction world and meeting the high standards of property management companies required us to constantly evolve our processes.
