Today we’d like to introduce you to Seãn Johnson.
Hi Seãn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After the market crashed in 2009, I started hosting cigar events and after reaching a plateau in 2015, I started looking for another challenge but still somehow enjoying what I love… Cigars. After doing extensive research, I decided to go all-in on creating a video magazine series. That project became Cigar Conversations, a mashup of a cigar lovers magazine, Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous, Car & Driver, GQ magazine, and The Rob Report. I positioned myself to take experienced cigar aficionados and beginners alike on an exploration of blending, pairing, learning, and introductions to icons of the cigar industry.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Building Cigar Conversations has not been an easy road. Creating takes patience, and we’re not by any means an overnight success. Finding team members dedicated to the project has always been a challenge. I have worked with several professional media companies and ended up teaching myself to do my video edits – sometimes even outsourcing my major edits to other states. I recently formed a bond with a talented creator that shares my vision and we are making major strides now for 2021.
We’ve been impressed with Cigar Conversations, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cigar Conversations’ next step is growing our distribution, similar to the Travel Channel for cigar aficionados. I introduce my viewers to new stogies, being a foodie, fine dining, high-end cigar accessories, and the luxury lifestyle that surrounds the industry. We are known for unique interviews, and rather than going too deep, I keep the conversations light and engaging.
As a digital series, it’s our content that truly sets us apart. Cigar Conversations takes you on a journey of education and stimulates your taste buds from stogies to spirits with an easy, memorable education. We’re the stylish friends you always enjoy hanging out with for the weekend – or longer.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My ability to always be approachable, to allow my guests to open up without fear of being judged, attracts people that usually wouldn’t participate in digital storytelling. That gives us an edge when both when we first meet potential guests, and while relating with them in interviews.
