Hidden Gems: Meet Shanna Pothier of Family Law Solutions, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanna Pothier.

Hi Shanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in inner-city Memphis, where safety was never guaranteed and resilience was learned early. As a teenager, I became a ward of the state. I was incredibly fortunate not to enter foster care; instead, a family friend opened her home to me when my parents were no longer willing to be parents. In that home, I found stability and inspiration. My foster mother was a paralegal, and I was fascinated by her work. I saw in her a path forward, a profession that offered both purpose and possibility.

Determined to break the cycle of poverty for myself and my future children, I worked relentlessly. In 2007, I graduated from a local community college with a degree in Paralegal Studies. Soon after, I moved to Atlanta to begin my career as a family law paralegal. It was there that I fell in love with family law, a passion that would shape my life’s work.

In 2014, I followed my then-husband to Biloxi, Mississippi, for his career. The plan was for me to become a stay-at-home mom. But after fighting so hard for my education and professional growth, I simply couldn’t let that part of myself go. So while my daughters were at school or napping, I began providing contract support to family law attorneys. That was the beginning of Family Law Solutions, Inc.

What started as part-time contract work quickly grew into something much larger. By 2016, the business had expanded so significantly that we were able to move back to Georgia and I became the primary financial provider for our family, while my then-husband stayed home with our daughters.

As demand increased, I found myself supporting 15 law firms on my own. I hired a few employees, but the work my clients needed required advanced skill and experience. I was overwhelmed and close to shutting everything down when I had a pivotal realization: I was trying to fish for everyone when what I really needed to do was teach others how to fish.

In 2017, I hosted the first Family Law Bootcamp at Georgia State University. Twenty-five people attended, and it was a smashing success. The response confirmed what I had begun to understand—there was a tremendous need for practical, skills-based training in family law.

From that single event, Family Law Bootcamp expanded into four core programs:
• Foundations Bootcamp
• Discovery Bootcamp
• Financials Bootcamp
• Trial Prep Bootcamp
Additionally, there are numerous focused trainings on specialized topics.

To date, Family Law Bootcamp has trained over a thousand family law attorneys and paralegals across Georgia and beyond. Today, Family Law Solutions, Inc. is a boutique company supporting lawyers nationwide with training and case management systems that elevate their practice.

Because I built a business aligned with my passion, I now have something I once only dreamed about: freedom. I set my own schedule. I travel. I create experiences with my daughters and for myself. In 2020, just before the world shut down, I took my girls to France and Spain. Since 2022, we’ve explored multiple destinations across the United States. In Summer 2025, I took a solo Amtrak journey around the entire country. And in Summer 2026, my daughters and I are heading to Denmark and Sweden. Isn’t life amazing?

The greatest joy in my journey has always been helping others. If you want to pursue a career in family law, I can help you get started through hands-on training and job placement support. If you want to build your own contract support business serving family law attorneys, I can help you do that too.

I built this path from uncertainty, resilience, determination and grit. And if you’re ready to build yours, I would be honored to help you begin.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges that I faced was feeling like I just didn’t fit in as a professional. I didn’t have the clothes that others wore in the law office and I didn’t speak anything like them either. I felt like this poor girl from the wrong part of town while everyone else seemed so educated and confident in themselves. I didn’t have the same vernacular that everyone else had. I was from the streets and that doesn’t necessarily translate into legal jargon. I had a lot of real life learning to do, from how to dress to how to talk.

My initial reaction was to quietly observe those around me in effort to blend in, swinging the pendulum too far away from who I am as a person. These days, I am able to show up as me, knowing that the demeanor I carry, mostly the me I’ve always known mixed with some of what I learned from observing others, is the truest me showing up. I am able to be both personable and professional by being myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Family Law Solutions, Inc.?

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
My biggest support and collaboration has come from Professional Document Services and Callaway & Company.

PDS is a printing shop and they have collaborated with me from the beginning of Family Law Solutions by printing all of the training materials – beautiful spiral bound books that each trainee would receive at Family Law Bootcamp. PDS even sponsored the Bootcamps while I was getting them up and running, providing the training materials at no cost. I cannot recommend Derrick Black and his team at PDS enough.

Callaway & Company is a forensic accounting firm and they collaborated with me from the beginning of Family Law Solutions as well. Ansley Callaway is the principal owner and she sponsored lunch for the Bootcamps for years, including coming to speak at the Bootcamps to help attendees understand her role in a family law case.

The support of both PDS and Callaway & Co. has been such a blessing in my life and business. I could not be more grateful to them.
