My Journey: Service, Integrity, and Resilience My professional journey began in 2014 when I obtained my Life & Health Insurance license and started as a broker with MetLife. During those early years, I quickly realized that many seniors in our community were struggling—not just with choosing a plan, but with significant language barriers that prevented them from accessing the benefits they deserved.
Driven by a desire to help, I shifted my focus to Medicare Advantage Plans. It was important to me to work in a way that provided peace of mind for both myself and my clients; by receiving commissions from insurance companies rather than charging seniors directly, I could offer my expertise as a resource without adding a financial burden to those I served.
Expanding the Mission
As I spent more time assisting seniors with Medicare, I found myself helping them navigate other complex systems, such as SSI, Medicaid, and caregiver service applications. I saw a profound need for high-quality, trustworthy home care. With the support of a close friend, I founded I Care Home Service, LLC to provide that direct support.
Navigating the Pandemic
The timing was a true test of faith. We received our operating license just as the global pandemic began. While the world shut down, I refused to let our mission stall. I spent that time:
Providing remote consultations via phone to ensure our seniors weren’t left behind.
Building a professional digital presence and website from the ground up.
Expanding my insurance licenses to all neighboring states to broaden our reach.
Growth with Integrity
Coming out of the pandemic, I noticed that many businesses in the industry chose to grow rapidly by taking shortcuts or bypassing certain procedures. However, I have chosen a different path. At I Care Home Service and Song Kim Insurance, we strictly adhere to Medicaid regulations and operate according to what I call “God’s Law”—a commitment to honesty, transparency, and doing things the right way, even if it means growing more slowly.
Today, I am proud to run a business where our clients are treated like family, and every step we take is grounded in the same integrity I started with in 2014.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“One of the most heart-wrenching challenges I face is the gap in information that our seniors experience. I provide ‘A to Z’ support for them—personally handling everything from changing their ID addresses and applying for SSI and Medicaid to selecting the right insurance plans and finalizing caregiver services. I walk with them through every exhausting administrative step as if they were my own parents.
However, because these systems are so complex, some seniors occasionally visit other welfare centers and unintentionally sign papers that switch their service provider to another agency. It is incredibly discouraging to see a relationship built on months of hard work and trust be disrupted by a simple lack of procedural understanding.
But even in those moments of frustration, I am reminded of why I do this. It reinforces the fact that our community still needs honest, patient advocates who won’t give up on them. These experiences have taught me to value the ‘depth of trust’ over the ‘speed of growth,’ and they drive me to continue serving with integrity, regardless of the setbacks.”

- Medicaid-Funded Home Care (SOURCE vs. CCSP): * Services through the SOURCE program are typically provided at no cost to the member. For the CCSP program, a monthly Cost Share (patient pay) may be required based on the individual’s income and asset levels as determined by the state. We provide a thorough pre-screening to help families understand their potential financial responsibilities upfront
