Hi Yohannes, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my fitness journey back in 2015 in Atlanta. What began as a personal goal to get stronger and live healthier quickly grew into a passion for fitness and helping others achieve their own transformations. Over the years, I immersed myself in training, nutrition, and mindset development, constantly learning and pushing my limits.
That passion eventually led me to become a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), so I could take what I’d learned and help others do the same in a more structured, professional way. Since then, I’ve worked with clients both in person and online, focusing on building strength, confidence, and sustainable habits that last beyond the gym.
Today, I’m proud to be part of Atlanta’s growing fitness community — inspiring others to take control of their health and become the best version of themselves
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most people who start their fitness journey, I faced a lot of ups and downs — from trying to stay consistent while balancing work and life, to dealing with setbacks, injuries, and moments of self-doubt. There were times when progress felt slow, and I had to learn the importance of patience and discipline.
Another big challenge was turning my passion into a career. Building a client base, earning my certification, and learning the business side of fitness all took time.

my name is Yohannes Mekuria , and I’m a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) based in Atlanta. I started my fitness journey in 2015, and over the years, my passion for training and helping others transform their lives grew into a full-time career.
I run my business called JP sport performance , where I specialize in creating personalized training programs that help clients build strength, improve fitness, and achieve sustainable results — whether they train at home, in the gym, or online. My online training programs allow me to work with clients from anywhere, providing guidance, accountability, and support no matter their location.
Through my work, I aim to inspire confidence, discipline, and long-term healthy habits for everyone I train.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I aim to stay at the forefront of industry trends by integrating technology, by virtual coaching platforms, to provide more personalized and efficient training experiences.
I also plan to expand my focus on holistic fitness — incorporating mindset, nutrition, and recovery strategies into all programs — to help clients achieve long-term results, not just short-term goals. Additionally, I want to specialize in creating programs for [specific niche or goal, e.g., home-based athletes, busy professionals, hybrid competitors], ensuring each client gets a tailored approach that fits their lifestyle.
Ultimately, my goal is to build a sustainable, adaptable fitness business that empowers clients to achieve their best health and performance, while keeping pace with the evolving demands of the industry.
