Inspiring Conversations with AJ Blizzard of Blizzard Investment Group, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to AJ Blizzard.

Hi AJ, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is AJ Blizzard. Im an Atlanta, GA native. I spent the last 15 years working in TV production as a Director of Photographer, doing many shows for HGTV. Growing up as a kid and being handy, building lots of things, etc; I naturally gravitated towards the home renovation niche. I’ve DP’d hit shows like Home Town Takeover, Property Brothers and Emmy nominated Married to Real Estate; and styled Emmy winning Hack My Home for Netflix. Throughout the years of learning everything there is to know about real estate behind the scenes, I met some incredible individuals. Many becoming mentors and inspiration, leading to where I am today.

With the production industry changing, adapting to modern times, new styles and streaming platforms; work slowed down a lot for me. I’ve done well adapting, but todays work is not what it used to be. A husband and dad of 2, I made a decision to pivot and create a back up plan to provide for my family. Spending my entire life as a freelancer, finding a full time job would be difficult. With no resume or experience doing anything else really, my natural instinct as an entrepreneur at heart was to create my own work!

In 2025, my wife and I made the decision to start not just one, but TWO businesses! We joined a senior estate service franchise by opening Family Nest of Alpharetta, which is a one stop shop, white glove service for all things senior estates. We handle downsizing, estate sales, clean outs, moves, senior placements, and even real estate sales. Second, I formed my own Real Estate Investment Group, called BLIZZARD INVESTMENT GROUP, LLC (BIG). Through BIG, I focus on finding off-market properties throughout Atlanta and surrounding areas to invest in, offering fair purchase prices, then bringing the properties back to life and on market at an affordable price point. My focus and goal is to be a solution to the affordable housing crisis. I want to create win/win situations for both sellers and buyers. As a small, family ran investment group from Atlanta, GA; we truly take pride in our hometown and want to take on that responsibility of supporting our housing market, not some out of state, corporate investment group with no emotional ties.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to launching our businesses has been fairly smooth and fast paced. Lots of legwork when starting a business, from planning marketing, budgeting, to getting the proper insurance coverage and business supplies. Also putting the business plan together, and goals to focus on for future growth. Our biggest struggle has honestly been the transition of mindset. Spending most of my life looking through the lens to create imagery as beautiful as I could, to now refreshing my memory on business practices and more administrative skills.

As you know, we’re big fans of Blizzard Investment Group, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Blizzard Investment Group, LLC, we specialize in finding off-market properties, wether distressed, vacant, inherited, pre-foreclosed, etc. We offer CASH and FAST CLOSINGS. This often times allows us to help homeowners in a pinch, that need to sell quickly AS-IS.

What sets us apart is that we are local, Georgia family, born and raised. We have an emotional attachment to the Atlanta area, and want to see it flourish. We want to bring properties with family history and generational stories back to life for the next generation to be able to create their own memories in a place they can call home. We don’t make insanely low offers, or buy folks out of their neighborhoods. We truly create win / win transactions for all homeowners, helping families on both ends.

We have local initiatives as well. We offer finders fees for any locals that bring us off-market properties. There’s no one we trust more than the locals. The neighbors and families that live in the Atlanta communities, that care as much as we do about their community. We prefer to get our leads from those folks, not an AI assistant calling at all hours of the day, with no emotional attachment.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Much credit goes to many mentors I’ve met over the years filming HGTV shows. I credit my good friend and mentor Ken Corsini, owner of RedBarn Homebuyers. I first met Ken back in 2014, when I started DP’ing his show Flip or Flop Atlanta. Ken is a GA native, living fairly close to me. Fast forward 10 years later, i’ve established a great friendship with Ken, and he’s been a great inspiration. Through Ken and all the resources and training provided by RedBarn Homebuyers I’ve been able to successfully pivot into doing real estate. I also still work and collaborate with Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson from Married to Real Estate. From DP’ing the last few season of their HGTV show, to following their journey house hunting abroad, you can say I’ve heard and learned just about all there is to learn about real estate. That’s the beauty of relationships, and friendships, and those are things I’m forever grateful for. I still have lots to learn! It’s a lot different filming someone else doing it, to now doing it myself! But I’m at a level now where I can facilitate and create win / win transactions with confidence .
