Inspiring Conversations with Arman Sayyar of Sam and Rosco’s Restaurant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arman Sayyar.

Hi Arman, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up in restaurants, i always had a passion for food and people. I started as a cashier at Krystal’s, then moved into the kitchen slowly getting the hang of front and back of house. Little by little I started getting into fast casual restaurants, then fine dining and really enjoyed the day to day operations of a restaurant. My dream was to always run my families restaurant one day, however i knew i wanted to be well rounded and gain experience from the outside before bringing that back to our restaurant. Now in our 39th year of business, im blessed to be able to live that dream out and am thankful for all the experiences i had before coming back home.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never an easy day working in restaurants, some days are just much better than others. It was hard to get where i wanted with the drive i had for my age, however i was finally given the chance to prove myself in places where i otherwise would have had to wait a few years, im very grateful for that. Covid also proved to be a bit of a challenge as i was laid off during that time, which coincidentally brought me back to running the restaurant and living out my dream.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sam and Rosco’s Restaurant?
Sam and Rosco’s, formerly known as Aldo’s italian restaurant has been in business for 39 years! What started as the first white tablecloth restaurant in West GA, still is the premier dining spot for many in the area. We are known for award winning service, food and hospitality. Many of our guests love that they can still enjoy some of their favorites from the past in a modern casually elegant atmosphere. What sets us apart from other restaurants is that we are locally owned and operated and we make our food fresh to order with real ingredients. We are most proud of the business we have built along with the regulars who we serve, we have been blessed to see families come through with four generations in this establishment. We want our guests to experience the difference when they dine with us, after all its not just about a great meal! We also make sure to be involved in our local community as we are grateful to them for our success in this small town.

What’s next?
I am most excited for my involvement as a board member with our local Douglas County Chamber, which gives me a chance to be active in my community as well as to be a voice for our business community. I am looking forward to changes to our menu this year as well as planning a happy hour, and live music events in our newly added veranda. We also specialize in private events and are growing that side of the business.
