Inspiring Conversations with Hazel Jay of GLOBAL Healing Creative Arts Therapy Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hazel Jay.

Hi Hazel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started this journey in a place that most people don’t talk about out loud—broken, broke, and completely busted. I was exhausted in every sense of the word. Spiritually depleted. Mentally overwhelmed. Financially drowning. And emotionally numb. I was an educated woman with an MBA and multiple certifications, yet I felt like the most unsuccessful person I knew. I wore so many hats—mother, teacher, student, wife, healer, friend—but none of them felt like they actually belonged to me. And despite all the knowledge I had, I was silently struggling with depression, suicidal ideation, and the shame of not being “enough.”

I bought into the lie that if I just did more and earned more, I would finally be worthy. But that path cost me dearly—strained relationships with my children, loss of my peace and joy, and over $200,000 in student loan debt. I kept performing, striving, fixing, and wearing a mask that screamed “I’m fine,” while internally screaming for someone to see I was not.

After earning my MBA, I created iGLOW Consulting to support women who were silently suffering like me. I immersed myself in every workshop, training, and inspirational event I could find. I read hundreds of books, dialed into countless calls, and volunteered at events just to stay connected to something that felt like purpose. I became a collector of knowledge—knowing everything, but feeling like an expert in nothing.

My breakthrough didn’t come in a neat package. It was layered and messy. In 2015, I attended Lisa Nichols’ Speak and Write Conference and was moved by her teachings on releasing toxins, redefining our money story, and the power of letting go. But even then, I went back to familiar chaos. I was still stuck. It took repeated cycles of trauma, including workplace abuse, a failed marriage, and losing everything I worked so hard for, before I finally admitted I needed something more than just motivation. I needed healing.

I started attending life coaching workshops—not for clients, but for me. I met instructors who turned pain into purpose and made 6-figures doing it. That gave me hope, but not yet transformation. Even after being introduced to NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) at MegaFest, getting certified, and continuing to pursue deeper truths, I still felt stuck. That’s when I heard the most powerful message: “Stop attending workshops, wasting time and energy, collecting information and not doing anything with it.” That hit me right between the eyes. It wasn’t about knowing more—it was about being more.

That’s when it clicked. I didn’t need to become someone else—I needed to become me. Not the version others expected. Not the cookie-cutter professional. Just me. That’s when I realized: my brand isn’t my companies—it’s me. All my work—whether it’s iGLOW, GLOBAL Healing & Creative Arts Therapy Studio, or iEsteeMe Publishing—flows from the same divine vision. It just looks different depending on the platform.

My integrated vision is simple, yet powerful:
I envision a world where every person—no matter how deep their pain or overwhelming their loss—can experience true transformation, healing, and restoration through the power of God’s grace. As a Faith Holistic Creative Transformation Lifestyle Coach, I empower individuals and families to break free from generational trauma, ignite their creativity, reclaim their joy, and build a legacy rooted in love, purpose, and spiritual renewal.

And I live this vision. I’ve survived a debilitating stroke. I’ve endured estrangement from my children. I’ve battled depression and stood face-to-face with loss. But through it all, I came to understand that true grace isn’t earned through performance—it’s received through positioning. Jesus already paid the price for my healing. I no longer have to hustle to prove anything. I’ve shifted from performance to purpose.

I’ve also realized that healing isn’t just personal—it’s communal. My story is not only mine to hold but also mine to share. I’m here to light the way for others who feel lost in the dark. I believe that our glow is most powerful when it shines in the dark places—and I’ve made it my mission to help others glow, too.

My journey has now come full circle. I teach, coach, and write from a place of integrity and embodied wisdom. I am the host of Get LIT w/ Dr. Hazel Jay, where I create space for healing and authentic conversations. I work with women and families to help them navigate grief, identity, creative purpose, and emotional breakthroughs through tools like Hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP, and expressive arts.

I also equip others with practical strategies—how to brand yourself, how to write a strategic and sustainable business plan, how to heal your money wounds that stem from childhood experiences, and how to align your work with your why. Through it all, I share my story—raw, real, and redeemed. I don’t just teach others how to wear their BIG HAT—I walk them through how to tailor it to fit their head, their crown, their calling.

This is not just a job for me—it’s a divine assignment. And I finally feel like I am walking in alignment with who I was always created to be. I no longer chase the crowd. I lead with authenticity. And I know now that every part of my journey—every failure, every tear, every “not yet”—was preparing me for the stage I now stand on. One where I am whole, worthy, and glowing from the inside out.

So, how did I get here? Through God’s grace, a relentless refusal to give up, and the decision to stop hiding behind titles and start living in my truth. I am no longer fixing myself to be accepted. I’m now positioned to be impactful. And everything I create from here on out will help others do the same.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road I’ve traveled has been anything but smooth, and even to this day, there are moments where I find myself facing struggles that feel as though they might break me. Looking back, I can see how each of these challenges has shaped me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still carry the weight of them.

One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced, and continue to face, is balancing my roles and responsibilities. From being a single mother to juggling multiple careers and entrepreneurial ventures, it’s been a constant balancing act. There are times when I feel overwhelmed, like I’m not giving enough of myself to any one thing. It’s a struggle to feel like I’m doing enough for my daughter while also being fully invested in my work with GLOBAL Healing Creative Arts Therapy Studio, iGLOW Consulting, and my role as a teacher. I often question whether I’m being the best mom I can be, while also pushing my businesses forward and pursuing my own personal healing journey. That internal tension is a struggle that lingers, and it’s something I’ve had to confront over and over again. There are days when I feel like I’m failing at both, and it’s hard to silence that voice of self-doubt.

Another struggle I’ve faced is personal trauma and the impact it has had on my ability to truly heal. Even though I’ve worked through so much of my own grief and pain, there are still moments when the scars feel raw. There are reminders of past wounds—whether from loss, disappointment, or old patterns that continue to haunt me—that resurface when I least expect them. I’ve worked tirelessly to heal myself, but I’ve learned that healing is not a destination—it’s a lifelong journey. Even as I help others navigate their own trauma, I still find myself grappling with my own, and sometimes that feels like an exhausting weight to carry.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is accepting that healing is messy. I’ve always prided myself on being strong and self-sufficient, but there are days when I’m not. There are moments when I feel overwhelmed by my own emotions, unsure of how to process them. Even after all the growth and learning I’ve done, there are still days when I feel stuck—caught in old patterns that I thought I had long overcome. I thought I would have all the answers by now, but instead, I’ve learned to be more accepting of the moments when I don’t have it all together. Still, it’s frustrating. It’s difficult to admit that even after all the effort I’ve put in, there are parts of me that remain unresolved.

And let’s not forget about the ongoing challenge of being a woman in a male-dominated world. Whether in business, in education, or in my own personal life, I’ve faced countless instances where I’ve had to prove my worth, fight for my space, and push through societal expectations. It’s draining, and while I’ve become more adept at advocating for myself, it’s still something I’m constantly navigating. The expectation to be both everything and nothing at the same time—strong but not too strong, independent but not too independent—is an exhausting battle I continue to fight. I sometimes feel like I’m not allowed to have weaknesses, to be vulnerable, or to ask for help. That pressure to be perfect, especially as someone who helps others heal, is overwhelming at times.

There’s also the financial struggle that often accompanies entrepreneurship. The reality of running my own businesses, especially GLOBAL Healing Creative Arts Therapy Studio, has meant a constant struggle for stability. The challenges of growing a non-profit and balancing the creative side with the financial and operational realities are huge. The constant pressure to sustain the studio, manage the budget, and ensure that everything functions smoothly while maintaining the integrity of the healing work has been a battle. Some days, the fear of failure creeps in, and I wonder if I’m doing enough to make sure the studio and all its offerings remain viable in the long term. The responsibility of being the CEO of a business that has such an emotional and creative foundation weighs heavily, and I often find myself questioning whether I can keep it all afloat.

Finally, self-worth remains a struggle I confront daily. I often find myself caught in cycles of comparison, questioning if I’m doing enough, if I’m worthy of success, or if I truly deserve the recognition that comes with my accomplishments. Even as I help others recognize their worth, I still struggle to do the same for myself. The work I do is deeply fulfilling, but the emotional toll it takes to constantly pour out for others while often neglecting my own needs can be exhausting. There are days when I feel as though I’m not enough, despite all the evidence to the contrary. The voice of self-doubt never fully goes away, and it’s something I have to fight against daily.

Despite all of this, I am grateful. Grateful for the bumps, the cracks, the potholes, because they’ve shaped me into who I am today. I wouldn’t change a thing, because it’s through these struggles that I’ve learned the most about myself. Each challenge, each moment of feeling stuck, has pushed me to grow. Every disappointment has led me to a deeper understanding of my own strength. I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear—it’s messy, complicated, and sometimes painful. But in the mess, I’ve found clarity. In the struggle, I’ve found resilience. And in the discomfort, I’ve discovered my true power.

I still face these challenges, but I’ve learned that it’s not about avoiding the struggles. It’s about facing them head-on, learning from them, and continuing to move forward with gratitude and humility. And for that, I wouldn’t change a single thing.
